Nightmare Movies / Revelation Movies

Try Jacob's Ladder.

Very cool movie from back in the eighties. Definitely has the nightmare and twist part down perfect, no real escape or the ultimate escape depending on your perspective.

It's from 1990, actually. And it was the first film I would have mentioned in this thread, except that the big revelation comes at the very end so it kind of fails to match the OP's criteria. It certainly is nightmarish as hell.

No one has mentioned The Others or The Sixth Sense.

So please let me be the first to mention The Others and The Sixth Sense.

The Spanish film Open your Eyes (Abre los ojos) comes to mind, though I only saw bits of it. It got remade into Vanilla Sky, butI haven't seen that version, and don't intend to. It basically involves a dream-world, though I don't remember much of it to give a proper analysis.

A lot of the films mentioned ARE twist movies but they're not revelation movies. They're missing the third act, they just end when you get to the twist.

If the 6th Sense were shorter and had a third act about how the dead guy had to visit his own grave or descend into hell or something to make his spirit be at peace, that would be a cool movie.

As it was it kind of sucked.
