Here is the 2nd installment of Narz's Monthly Civ Challange. This ought to be a good one, its on an excellent small map I designed (the map is not available for download), here are the Specs : 7 Civilizations, Small Map, Barbarian level = Roving Bands. Here's the start position :

Your saved games (1AD, 1000AD and finish) are due August 4th. Enjoy!

Looks good Narz. I prefer your challenge to the GOTM cause you don't create a game and stamp a great big EMPEROR/DEITY level to it. King/Prince is more my level. Keep it up.

By the way who won the last one. Last I heard I was the only entry so......

Wayhey, this is going great, I got a couple of free chariots from the huts and quickly dispatch the Mongols. Then I sent the chariots to the large eastern continent and picked up a horseman and another chariot. Used these to destroy the Germans who re-emerged as the French I captured the American city of Boston but lost my nice little army trying to capture Moscow from the Russians.

Anyway it was quiet for a thousand years until I got Mobil warfare which gave me my fav unit - Armour!! I used these and some spies to get rid of the Indians and most of the French. The Egyptians and the Romans are on the run in the centre continent but those damn Carthiginians could be a problem. I am building an army to conquer the Americans and the French but it will be hard as I let them build themselves back up.

This is the first game on a higher level that I really think I could win completely. But I am starting to run out of time.....

Good luck anarchy, you sound like you're doing pretty well. You may very well be the winner again this time (hopefully you'll at least have some competition though). Keep at the attack! Heres a few tricks I've learned when dealing with multiple foes :

(1) Attack one at a time, with massive amounts of troops, especially when they're on different continents or sections of one continent.
(2) Try to storm the capital city and then use diplomats to bribe the remaining cities before they build a new palace (bribery cost is half when the enemy has no capital city)
(3) Robotics is a good science to go for (then you can devote all trade arrows to money and luxeries), Howitzers blast through city walls and are quicker to build than tanks (though its still always good to have a few tanks on call). But if all your opponents are still without Riflemen then robotoics isn't really necessary.

Any reason why you allow destroyed civs to come back as another civ?

Thats the default setting. Just look at it this way : more cities for you!

My program says that empcivfanatic4000bc.sav
is not a valid save file.
Any idea what im doing wrong?

What version of Civ2 are you using? Classic, MGE, FW.

I'v started to play. but this game takes a horrible time for me. Big map, no conquer. I am about 1500 AD now, planning to start the work on SS in the end of the17th century. I hope I will have time to finish, so I am leaving for holiday soon.

i'm playing OCC almost got wiped out around 900 by the mongols.
I chose a very bad location.
With MGE not sure if I can ever have a secure peace

1874 got taken out by a marine along with 4 or 5 frigates/ironcald and 1 destroyer sniping my One City
suprised i lasted that long.

Sorry to hear you perished Valuna. I'm sure you've gained some new Civ wisdom from the experience though. You choose a difficult game to do an OCC, on a middle island shared with Mongols. Theres always next month.
