I sorted this one out in the Preturn phase of my turn.

So seeing as its mid turn for me still, I'd thought I'd ressurect the what happened next Q and A that we all know (well most of us) and love.

What happened in my turns so far?

A) Germans switch sides and raze Trebizond.
B) Spain switches sides and the Incans are DOOMED.
C) Our Galleon forces uttely destroy a Russian 2xFrigate/Galleon set.
D) Our continent becomes completely railroaded?
E) Our allies in the war against Russia actually do something useful :rolleyes:

@soren : You can steal without a spy too. All you need is an embassy.

IMHO, we should bring India and Arabia and Germany against Spain and Persia and turn it into a WW. That is to our advantage. It will knock them of Democracy (if they are there) and also ruin their chances of UN elections just in case we miss the UN wonder.

Germany will probably not switched side. That gives us enough time to shore up Trebizoid with rifles. And in any case Trebizoid is not one move of German cav. The current German cav came in because Russia landed forces on our continent. They should go out if we ask him to.

That is entirely correct :) Added to that: stealing with a spy has a higher succes rate than stealing without a spy. When you have a spy in the opponent's capital, be sure to use the spy to steal, not the embassy :)
 
OK no worries here....

Option A didnt happen, after I moved some troops around, the germans ran back into their land.

Option B did happen, Russia and Spain declared on Incans. Incans are so far behind it isnt funny and unfortunately this would really help the Russians extend their land.

Option C. Yup we did this, 5 cannons did the initial work though. They reduced the frigates to 1hp and brought the Galleon to the top of the pile. First Galleon killed this and I thought with 1hp I would try for the others. We lost 1hp in total and a Galleon promoted to Elite!

Option D. This obviously is true. I am using workers now to completely protect our shores from landings. Please tell me if this is an unnacceptable exploit.

Option E. Well I have seen lots of frigates from India, Incans and Germans, but I have no proof whatsoever that they are doing anything constructive.

So it would appear that Nad is 100% correct :goodjob:

I think I saw somewhere that any unit can now amphibiously attack workers, to avoid this may-be-exploit?

I think I read also that if you are playing conquests they can capture your workers, declaring war, by just stepping on the square your worker occupies. I think they changed it because Firaxis felt it was an exploit. Only military can guard shore.
 
Thanks for the information guys :) I didn't know about this change...it opens up all sorts of new possibilities, I can imagine some sort of "slave run", declaring war and nicking AI workers! It also means we have to change our tactics here.
 
Well whatever people say Russian boats and stuff certainly went elsewhere when faced by the bared bottoms of our workers...

Preturn - OK, I dont like empty cities, I believe it gives the AI a reason to attack us, rearrange some units so that all cities have someone to keep them company. MM means that several cities will complete their builds up to 4-6 turns earlier. Also some entertainers hired in big cities as they dont need the production and I would like to push some WLTKD's here. These reduce the chance of flips and protect against spy propaganda (he says noticing that Russia has Espionage) Gift Incans 4 gold.

IBT - Wow russia has a lot of ships. I can see 7 frigates and 3 galleons. Also 3 frigates and a galleon just left our waters.

Turn 01 (1060AD) - Adrian cav -> cav. Caesarea cav -> cav. Nicaea Market -> Artillery. Amorium market -> worker. Found Ohrid on the Arabs Island. Gift incans 9 gold.

IBT - Spain and Russia sign an MA against the Incans. Poor Incans.

Turn 02 (1070AD) - Constantinople cav -> cav. Varna worker -> worker. Cannons attack Frigate/Galleon combo near Ancyra, reduce the frigates to 1hp and 2hp and the galleon to 3hp. Our Galleon attacks and sinks the Galleon. haha! Find one more cannon, both frigates on 1hp, sink them both with Galleon without loss of hp and one Galleon promotes. Vidin founded. Gift Arabs 15 gold. I decide to sell refining around. Persia already has it, so its only a matter of time. India gives Espionage, 74 gold, 46gpt and WM. Selling refining and espionage to Spain for Fascism and 275 gold. Germany gives 7gpt and 1gold and WM. Research to 80%. Upgrade 2 horsemen and rush a factory with the money.

IBT - Dyes deal with Spain runs out, renew paying them 8gpt. All Russian Troops seem to be heading for Arab lands?

Turn 03 (1080AD) - Adrian cav -> cav. Caesarea cav -> cav. Heraclea factory -> barracks. Naissus University -> Factory. Hmm now running at -6gpt. Research to 70%. Sell Espionage to germany for WM, 17gpt and 30gold. Sell Physics to Arabs for WM, 14gpt and 30 gold. Rush 3 workers to use the cash. Research back to 80%. Yawning...

IBT - Ah Russians land near Basra. :eek: Infantry/Guerilla/Cossack/Crusader what a mixed bunch.

Turn 04 (1090AD) - Constantinople cav -> Heroic Epic. Varna worker -> worker. Basra worker -> worker. Chalcedon University -> Artillery. Amorium worker -> barracks. Brusa worker -> worker. <Insert Witty Name Here> army to the front. Dead infantry for 4hp loss. Guerilla follows for the loss of 8hp ouch. Colins Army is up Next. Dead Crusader for 1hp loss. And then dead Cossack for 1hp loss. These armies rock ;) Hmm Persia has Electronics, I almost sold it to them last turn for +141gpt :cry: But I wanted to wait until we completed Hoovers in case they have a leader... *fingers crossed* (ie 3 turns til Hoovers) More checking reveals that the Russians have just researched Steel. Gift Arabs 17gold.

Turn 05 (1100AD) - Adrian cav -> cav. Caesarea cav -> cav. Boring. Cover our ENTIRE coast with units. Sell Magnetism to Arabs for WM, 5gpt and 30gold. Sell sci meth to Spain for 11gpt and 25 gold. Hurry 3 workers and gift arabs 4 gold.

IBT - Persians are building the Hoover Dam.

Turn 06 (1110AD) - Worker -> worker. Heraclea barracks -> harbor. Anjar worker -> courthouse. Fustat worker -> courthouse. Sardica market -> factory. Brusa worker -> courthouse. Gift 23 gold to Arabs.

Turn 07 (1120AD) - Adrian cav -> cav. Caesarea cav -> cav. Hoover Dam is built :phew: Trebizond switches to courthouse (due in 1 turn) and we sell off the coal plant for 40 gold. This city now hits 100spt gross. Spain, Persia and Russia are all in anarchy woohoo! Hurry artillery and buy the TM of the Arabs for 2 gold.

Turn 08 (1130AD) - Nicaea Artillery -> Factory. Varna worker -> factory. Heraclea harbour -> University. Trebizond court -> Uni. How does a 200 shield improvement according to the Civ oh scientific :$ hehe 100 shields for me. 1 Turn Uni anyone at 105spt net woohoo. Sell Atomic Theory around. India gives 44gpt, 50 gold, Communism and WM. Spain gives 80gpt. Research to 90%. Radio in 5 turns. +77 gpt. 100% research is still 5 turns at 22gpt. Gift gold to Arabs.

Turn 09 (1140AD) - Constantinople Heroic Epic -> Military Academy. Adrian cav -> cav. Caesaria cav -> cav. Trebizond Uni -> bank. Max research to get a better +gpt on the last turn. Suddenly Spain has steel. Nice buy it for gems and Electronics. Sell steel and gems to Persia for WM and 88gpt. Sell 25 gold to arabia for WM.

IBT - Russians drop an Infantry and a cossack near Kufah (arab island) Scary... Three frigates and a galleon for that?

Turn 10 (1150AD) - Dyrrachium Factory -> University. Army kills infantry 1hp loss and Elite cav kills cossack. No leader :( Rush a library in Vidin. And done.

Everyone is skint. We have 15 cavs and an artillery on boats for the far north Rubber Island of Russia. This will be ours...

I can't extract the save file from the zip. This is becoming a frequent problem for me and I don't know what's causing it. I can extract some zipped files with no problem at all, yet there are others I can't extract at all.

I don't have WinZip, I'm using standard windows extraction, but as I say, some files I can extract immediately. Can anyone help with this problem?

For now, if some kindly soul can extract the save file and post it in .sav format, I would be very grateful :).
