NOT ANOTHER STONE AGE MOD ... for BTS 3.17

Hmmm ... I'm having problems trying to make this MOD work with Revolution 2.0. Everything is merged well but there is some unexpected behavior (i.e barbarians are not being created :(). I'm not sure if Rev 2.0 is stable enough to merge it right now. However, I've already made other changes myself. I think It would be better to try merging the New Stone Age Mod with the 3.19 patch. I hope I won't find any critical problem while doing so :crazyeye:.
 
I hope you don't just yet :( It would be nice to still be able to play the New Stone Age mod and my other mods as well. But if that's what is required, I guess I'll need a dual-install :(
 
Well, I'll release a Mod for 3.17 and other one for 3.19. I'll first upload the 3.17. I hope this will be done this weekend :crazyeye:.

Just deinstall 3.19 and reinstall 3.17? If I'd done something nasty to a game, I'd reinstall.

Maybe just add BAT/BUG and Better AI instead of struggling with RevDCM if that helps you get a 3.17 upgrade out? Just a suggestion, if that helps.

I am playing the game as I write this and I think it's great!

I love the idea of the Hunter unit collecting resources from their prey. Very nice.

I have run into a problem that you should know about: I built a Hunting Instruction in my first city, then built an atl-atl. The atl-atl received the +3 exp but did not receive the free Hunting I promotion as promised! :eek:

Thank you for your comments :). That behaviour is not really a bug. I just wanted to give some Hunting skills to Non-Hunting units, and let the Hunters choose what they think it is better (actually, it makes no sense because everything starts from Hunting1 promotion :crazyeye:). I'll check it out to find a better solution. I agree when you all say it is strange :crazyeye:. Will change it for next release ;). Keep playing :goodjob:
 
How goes progress on the New Stone Age mod? Can we just call it the Neolithic mod now? :D

I'm eager to try it, even if you have to leave out RevDCM in favour of BUG/BAI.
 
I was playing the other day and I had a thought dawn on me. You know how at the Dawn of Mankind opening it talks about how your people are ready to settle down and stop wandering and such. It made me wonder, would it be possible to have the Tribe unit act as a city instead of as a settler. You wouldn't be able to settle a city until you researched Sedentary Lifestyle, but the Tribe would act as a city, so you would still be able to do research, build things and experience growth (like instead of city population growing, the tribe grows until you spawn a second tribe unit). Just tossing out ideas here, let me know what you think.
 
Woah, that's certainly an interesting idea, but won't it be difficult to code?
 
I'm not sure, I know how to do XML editing and that's about it, I know that some crazy things can be done with python and dll editing but how it would be done :confused:

Actually that is what faichele is working on in the WoC now. 3 Stages though thinking. 1st stage a tribe and actually have a screen to show specialist and religion, 2nd stage in between not moving anymore, and 3rd becomes a city.

He made some new AI like UNITAI_GATHERER, UNITAI_HERDER, UNITAI_ANIMAL_PREDATOR, UNITAI_ANIMAL_PREY, and UNITAI_HUNTER.

Anyway I am going to try to make something myself with only a neolithic era when it gets finished, but will probably be a while. I mentioned it before, but yes it takes some work. That is main feature I think that is needed for a stone age. Being no cities I mean.

How soon can we expect your promised update to the 3.17 version and how long after that might we expect a 3.19 patch?

Hi there :) ... Yeah, I'm sorry I've spent more time than expected but I've been very busy with other issues. I'm not a full-time modder :lol:. I hope it will be uploaded today. After that, I'll start upgrading to 3.19. :D
 
OK ... Finally I've uploaded the new Stone Age version. It's a beta testing but I have not found any problems yet. I'm releasing a beta version so I can have a final one for 3.19. Please, help me test this version :D.
