Not-So-Useful units, buildings, GPs and wonders

And who said libertarians didn't have no sense of humor?

I didn't not say that. That's uncertainly for sure. Positively possible.

Westboro Baptist Church (Not-so-useful religion)
Founded by the first to discover picket lines with colorful printed posters.
Does not spread outside family.
Can turn 3 citizen into .
Example website: http://www.godhatesfags.com/.

I already said that. :(

Westboro Baptist Church (a...uh...religion.)

Can only be founded in a city with Christianity (5% chance)
Can build Westboro Baptist Temple (+1 , -1 :culture:)
Can build Westboro Baptist Monastery (+2 , -2 :culture:, -10% :science:, not obsolete with Scientific Method)
Can build Westboro Baptist Cathedral ( +3 , -20% :culture:, may cause your city to revolt)
+1  for each city with :religion:
1% chance of your civic being changed to Cannibalism
.0666% chance of triggering the Apocalypse event

Fat Albert (Not so great Fat Guy)

Can remove 100% of :food: storages from city (unit is consumed, because people are angry and kill him)
Can join city as Great Fat Guy: -50% :food: gained per turn (unit is consumed)
Can remove 3 population from city (eating their food so they starve (unit is consumed)
Can stop your Golden Age by eating all of the things being done during Golden Age (unit is consumed)

Michael Jackson(not-so great artist)
+2 :)
when 1993 comes the +2 :) becomes +5  and +5  at him
when 2009 come it moes back to +2 :)

Congratz! I brought this thread back from the dead. I had to go all the way back to page uh.. lets see.. one.. two.. three Ah page three! to find it.

Shame on all of you for forgetting about it!:nono:

Muammar al-Gaddafi (Not-so-useful Great Prophet)
May only appear in a city with the not-so-useful religion The Children of God aka The Family International.

It's really true. Gadaffi was considered God's instrument by Moses David aka David Brandt Berg aka Mo, Father David, and Dad (Not-so-useful Great Prophet, may found The Children of God).

Bird Flu (overhyped disease)

-100 :yuck: for 10 turns (fear of pandemic)

+ 20 [pissed] for 10 turns (anger over no cure)

after 10 turns the :yuck: turns into -10000000000000000  ( public realization that the flu was a farce) and the + 20 [pissed] turns into +10000000000000000 [pissed] (due to the fact the flu was a farce. small chance after 20 turns of all buildings being destroyed in riots.

Don't forget the -100 :gold: for the panic.
And another -100 :gold: if you have Medicine and need inoculate everyone.
And another -10 :gold: for every city with a Broadcast Tower to fan the panic.
But you get a +1 :) for "We feel safe and protected by out government."

What about Swine Flu (more-or-less useless event) ?
Requires at least 1 hospital and Pig resource.
1% chance of losing 1 pop in one city, for each of 5 turns.
5% chance of +1:yuck: in half your cities, also for each of 5 turns.
-5:gold: for each hospital (to pay for all the vaccine stockpiled), a one-off charge.
Very small chance of losing one Pig resource.

Problem is we don't really know the results of the Swine Flu yet. Give it some months. :P

Problem is we don't really know the results of the Swine Flu yet. Give it some months. :P

For now it's a joke. If in two or three month it began to look like the spanish flu, then the joke will be on us.

When you laugh avout how overrated swine flu is, remember that the spanish flu has killed more people than the first world war. I don't think the swine flu will kill a lot of people, but it's actually possible.

In the not-so-useful game, Swine Flu and Bird Flu may both be variants of Pandemic (Not-So-Useful Random Event). It's to early to decide what will be the final outcome of the modding process. So far it looks more like +1:eek: and +1:confused: in each city, rather than -1 to -5 pop. And of course a :yuck: or three.

But there surely will be a lot of :gold: for F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd (rather-useful-for-the-stockholders corporation) from sales of Tamiflu.

Territorial Army - Not So Useful Unit

10 Strength, so long as kept in barracks
+1  from constant banging on about their careers
-100% strength when actually in combat

Wishy-Washy Leadership Not-so-Useful Unit

Randomly appears when your Approval Ratings get around 50%. Citizens cling to charismatic leadership without regard to policy or position because strength positions appear too partisan. It looks like a great person, it carries your civilizations flag, but you can't order it to move anywhere. It wanders on its own and whenever it is stationed on a tile, that tile cannot be worked as they are throwing a fundraiser. Whenever other units try to pass by on the roads, they will be immediately stopped for a handshaking session. Whenever it is stationed in a city, the city becomes auto-governed and you can't turn it off while the unit resides there. Production is ******** by -10% :hammers: and city maintenance cost is equal to the combined maintenance costs of all other cities in your empire. (Smaller empires can better sustain it, if it is in a faraway place, it might actually save you some of the trouble caused).

Luckily, the unit can be captured by opposing forces... if they are dumb enough to do it.

Sorry if it's been done, but I haven't read all 14 pages :p
EDIT: So I guess FOX has been done before... but mine is way better :w00t:

Fox News - a not-so-useful Great Wonder.

Requires Free Speech and Mass Media, as well as a Courthouse in the city it's built in, so it can argue a case that Free Speech enables it to lie.

+3  for the city it's built in
+2  to all your other cities (with Education)
+4 :) in two random cities
+2 :) in all your cities (without Education)
+1 :yuck: in the city it's built in
+50% :espionage: (with state property)
-20% :espionage: (without state property)
-3 :culture: per turn in its founding city
-50% :science: if you are researching Genetic Engineering
+50% :gp: for not-so-Great People Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity
75% chance of 50 turns of anarchy if you change civics to State Property after you build Fox News
25% chance of 10 turns of anarchy if you change any other civics, with the exception of changing to Theology if and only if your state religion is Christianity
1% chance of revolution each turn
-3 diplo with all other nations
-5 diplo if they have a state religion other than Christianity or Free Religion
-8 diplo if they have state property (unless you have state property when you build Fox News)

:D
explanation for the 25% chance of anarchy for changing civics: conservatives don't like change

Fox News - a not-so-useful Great Wonder.

Requires Free Speech and Mass Media,

+3  for the city it's built in
+2  to all your other cities (with Education)
+4 :) in two random cities
+2 :) in all your cities (without Education)

Well that's just ridiculous. You need Liberalism for Free Speech, and you need Education for Liberalism, so there's really no point in having those conditional effects.

Russian Military (not so useful military)

-50% Combat odds against Napoleon but chance of being saved by the winter.
-50% Combat odds against Germany but chance of being saved by the winter.
-50% Combat odds against Japan (-100% with naval units)
Will suffer most losses in any war.
From 1950 to 1990 units are built 2X as fast.
+2 :) from 1950 to 1990. ("We have the most powerful military!")
-5 diplo with America and NATO nations durring this time period.
After 1990 Unit cost increased 4 times until you go bankrupt, but you cannot delete them and they will not be disbanded forcing you you to watch your military might slowy rust away into useless junk.
+5:mad: when this happens.
+5:lol: from America and most other nations for 20 turns.
Additional  if you have researched Enviromentalism.
