Notification popups disappearing after a few turns.

Hi all.
I've started several new games using a recent CVS version (6963), and experienced a peculiar bug: initially, after my first city completes a building or a new tech is discovered, the usual popup asks me what to build/research next. After a few turns however the notifications simply disappear, and I have to manually select what to build or research, otherwise my cities simply don't perform any activity and no techs are researched.

I've double-checked every meaningful option and setting (Advisors enabled, even Sid's Tips, etc.) at no avail.

Any hint?
 
Well, using the Pop-Up is of itself inefficient you best can make a long list of buildings the city needs to make ;)

Although it is ofcourse Weird that the pop-ups stop working, not having the problem myself, except for sometimes the new researched tech pop-up only shows for a second
 
I've not seen this problem myself and without a save showing the problem of the popup not coming up when it should (and even then) this would be difficult to 'debug'. But if you provide a save I can look into it.
 
As far as I can see, after starting a few additional games I've pinpointed a few factors that can affect the bug's presence:

- Disbanding an unit: sometimes the command doesn't work, or I have to press canc several times in order to be able to destroy the selected unit; After this happens, no new notifications appear.

- Viewing the entire tech-tree ("Let's see the big picture..") triggers the bug in almost every case.

Anyway, is it normal to have to wait several seconds for each turn to finish, even at the beginning with just a few AI civilizations? My specs: i7 3770k, 16 GB of Ram, Radeon 7970.

Turn Time is indeed a bit High as of late even on Prehistoric and Ancient Era
 
The AI turn time can be reduced by 50% or so with the Minimise AI turn time option in the BUG options (General tab).

The minimise pop ups option in the Civ 4 game options might be causing your problem, though you mentioned it happening after a few turns.
