Who will be the first to use nuclear weapons in our "new war"?

Edit: by the way, I know some of the options are pretty obscure, but this "war" could last for years.

Another edit: I left our countries like Great Britain and France under the understanding that the US is currently "allied" with them (or at least Britain).

France, well, they'd just say that their nuclear weapons are too good to use on cretins like us Americans

And Isreal, well, I don't see a nuclear future for them. More conventional warfare, soldiers/tanks/etc...

by nuclear testing nukes already have been used several times.Millitarily they have only been used twice by the U.s.

And France, England and south Africa are also nuclear capable (even belgium has some nukes (but not the codes,Thanks to the U.S.A))

About the country that will nuke the first floowing time ,i chose Sudan (i don't trust them ,i just don't trust them with nukes(zulu's + nukes = **** i still havnt researched SDI))

I voted US. Not because I think we are evil, but that I think some country will do something bad chemical or biological weapons, and this will be our response. (And it should be!)

You left out Israel. Not that I think they are the most likely, but it WOULD be possible in this ongoing conflict--particularly if attacked chemically or biologically by Iraq.

My vote? I'm not sure. Whatever individual controls that missing suitcase nuke of the Russians COULD BE the one, too!

South Africa disabled its nukes after the fall of the apartheid regime, if I remember correctly. As to who will first use nuclear weapons, a lot of those on the list are not involved in the current conflict, and will not be.
I do not forsee them being used in the course of this campaign, as it is not a conventional war in the sense that we know.

Even if the war does go on for years, North Korea, China, France look extremely, extremely unlikely to go nuclear. Sudan will not be capable, and to suggest so is laughable. Ditto Libya etc, and the soon to be finished Iraqi regime (I think something will happen in regards to there. The bio attacks seem to have fingerprints of their involvement)
India and Pakistan no, even though the region is volatile, and they talk big.

Israel would if seriously attacked or threatened, but it would be only useful on Iraq, as anywhere closer puts them right in the middle of the potential fallout zone.

Britain, Russia and US, being the big three in regards to nukes, may in retaliation to an attack on them using WMD, with Russia being most likely to have the political will.

If I recall correctly, Sweden has the capability to develop several bombs if necessary, but Australia doesn't, to my eternal puzzlement. It is the best insurance policy possible against conventional warfare.

But in a low intensity conflict, it is unlikely they will see use. Where would they nuke?

i hate to say this, but i think one of them middle east coutrys is gonna drop a nuke on americas ass when your not expecting it.

we had, but i´m not sure if we have it anymore. we had a closed nuclear plant that could be used to develop bombs but i don´t know what happenned to it. however, i think most countries with nuclear power and the money and the knowledge, have the capability.

when boris yeltsin visited sweden some years ago, he said that countries like japan and germany have nukes. but you know boris

I disagree. If someone uses a nuclear weapon against us, it'll be a country like North Korea or China.

The Middle East doesn't like rocket warfare...they'd rather prefer the briefcase bombs and plane hijackings.

i don't think the States would be the first to nuke, if they ever use nukes, it would be after they were nuked by someone else.

I think the first country to use nukes will do it because of:
A. A serious threat on it's existence'
B. Fanatic belief that someone/something must be destroyed. Usually religion based.
C. A failure in an automatic defence system.
