Ruler Names: Yilderum I, Yilderum II, Görgün I, Görgün II,
Description: Sharing the same nomadic ancestors as the Scythe, the Cayun people are polytheists with most cities, towns, natural landmarks, families dynasties and even animals, plants, etc dedicated to one or more of the hundreds of myriad gods. The Cayun do not value war and violence very highly, instead focusing on cooperation and compromise. They are led by an elected king who's rule is absolute though he makes no claim to divinity and his children have no inherent right to the throne. He is served by a large bureaucracy based on meritocracy and his successor (once he dies) is chosen by them according to merit. This bureaucracy includes specialist primative accountants, bankers and lawyers (like OTL Summerians)

The Cayun have a large middle class based on early professional specialization and so internal trade is common and profitable. Cayun industry includes metalworking, textile weaving (linen, cotton, and to a lesser extent animal products), mining and stonework. Their homes are usually stone and government buildings and temples can be quite impressive. They also farm and especially fish. Cayun are excellent small-water craftsmen (for both fishing and commerce) though they make no use of their small fleets in war as they haven't really figured that one out yet.

For military, the Cayun continue to make use of the horse skirmishers of their ancestors though they also use poorly trained light levy spearmen.

(added some strengths and outlined some weaknesses- hope that works for you)

Culture Name: Nannuk
Core Value: Honor
Location: Palestine/Isreal
Aggression: 5
Expansion: 4
Cohesion: 1
Agriculture: 4
Sophistication: 2
Nation Names: Danuka, Shanuka, Kanuka (:p), Vanuka, Ganuka (Lesser and Looser style Confederations), Herkanukurat, Banatukurat, Sanukurat (More centralized 'Empires') Regerlas, Hamuran, Deyuntam (major Colonies+Home city)
City Names: (Most States are city states with -nu at the end) Dalak, Serat, Kemad, Batan, Matak (Dannu, Shanu, Kanu, Vanu, Ganu, Hernu, Banu, ect, names of power added to names of capitals of above nations)
Ruler Names:
Description: A fractured and embittered landscape of inland waring states powered by a strong agricultural tradition and an impeccable sense of honor against any slight (real or imagined). Every single person vies with his brothers and sisters for inheritance, every family against another for pasture and farmland. Every town vies with another for their borders for road duty and for the boundaries of their fields, and every valley and plataeu bands together against outsiders that have the nerve to attempt to pass through without paying an exorbitant protection fee.Example, except more fractured, of what the political situation might look like. They seek glory not only for their own sake, as well as to prove their work to their ancestors. Their gods are also as fractious, as most organized churches endure schisms every generation and new gods constantly being formed or imported. Needless to say, journeying through this land can prove to be dangerous yet profitable.
Army: Composed of nearly all men from youth to old, standard war is composed by a challenge from one group to another. They meet at the designated spot where each champion challenges another, whereupon a duel to first blood, submission or death (depending on preference) occurs. Every few years an 'Empire' emerges with unorthodox tactics like rushing, shield walls, seiges and the like to conquer an enemy and not just gain concessions, but less than a generation later most return to the traditional way of ritual combat after the newly minted Empire itself fell to the fractious tendencies of its people.

Culture Name: Nehiimet
Color: Dark Green
Core Value: Honor
Location: The rainforests of the Northwest Coast (North America)
Aggression: 4
Expansion: 2
Cohesion: 3
Agriculture: 4
Sophistication: 2
Nation Names: Ey’eo (sharp edged), Niq’em sne cec (smooth bay), Syewen (power song), Slehel (bone game)
City Names: Cqal’ew’se (flame), Ixkekeiel (dawn), Xew’es tqelc (new moon), Snenet (mountain)
Ruler Names: K’amk’em Key’exen-tse-tenex (Strong Earthquake), xeneleqen (Swift Water), Q’iilen Te-te-kel (Ancient Northern Lights), T’aten Tex-nex-nit (Cold Midnight)
Description: The Nehiimet tribes of Ey’eo and Syewen tend to live more in the rainforests and Worship S’emex, the Goddess of rain and magic as the primary deity. These tribes traditionally may claim lineage to a greater number of the Shiw’eq.
The Shiw’eq is the leader to whom all of the tribes owe their allegiance. The right to be Shiw’eq may be inherited like anything else in the Nehiimet (matrilineally). The right to be Shiw’eq may also be won by challenging the current Shiw’eq to a series of games that test intelligence, generosity, strength, and devotion. In a few rare instances, a wise man or woman has won the position of Shiw’eq after competing in the challenges vicariously with a champion.
The Niq’em sne cec tribe lives along the coast and islands and are less reliant on agriculture, using the sea for many of their needs. The Niq’em sne cec worship Sqitew’, the Mermaid Goddess of the sea and prosperity.
The Slehel tribe lives farthest inland and often inhabits the mountains or plains. They are the most war-like of the tribes; most of the war leaders of the Nehiimet are Slehel. The Slehel’s syaw’e (seers) give the tribe its name since they use the bones of enemies to predict the future and cast spells.
Warfare for the Nehiimet is different than that of other tribes. While the Nehiimet participate frequently in teq (raiding wars) to earn honor or capture slaves, the Nehiimet have also gone on q’ay’ec (campaigns of ashes) which annex surrounding lands and assimilate or dive off the resident tribes.

Can you give me a color Terrance?

The Language of Ancient Nannuk

The Language of Ancient Nannuk is interesting on many counts. Firstly is for the fact that the first primitive forms of writing seemed to be standardized by an ancient unifier while the culture was still developing in the vales off the Jordan and the sea of Galilee. Indeed, while the Nannuk Language is split by innumeral dialects and said by some to be as incomprehensible as Spanish to Mongolian in Primus-Dimentius Solus-Tetrius, this ancient and preserved written language preserved ties, no matter how remote, of the people.

As for the language itself, it is very harsh and sharp, composed of set syllables of vowels completely surrounded by consonant sounds. Descriptives are more flowing, with a single consonant sound followed by a vowel, used as a lilting introduction to the 'meaty' noun-based roots of a word.

The written language follows this. It has a pseudo-alphabet separated between the Nouns and descriptive half-syllables. In the noun form, the vowel shape is nestled between the consonants, while in the descriptives it is pressed against the described noun with the consonant of it below.

Verbs are a special case, for in Nannuk things are tangible, while actions are only important by what they affect. Woodcutting would be "What The Woodcutter Does". Indeed, the long form of 'Which/What/who' X 'Does, Responsible for, Causes' is Ma-x-nat. But shortened it is simple X-am.

I couldn't resist.
Color: A red shade I suppose?
Culture Name: Psion
Core Value: Tradition
Location: Southern California (Specifically San Diego area)
Aggression: 3
Expansion: 2
Cohesion: 4
Agriculture: 2
Sophistication: 4
Nation Names: Surra, Cresos, Nerza, Yertik, Verak
City Names: Surrak, Viken, Zanuw, Lorian, Qurah
Ruler Names: Arthoc, Surran, Alkisi, Ksi, Arthendel, Arsun
Description: A culture centered around the lakes and rivers of Southern Zak (in their tongue for us Southern California) It has a large curiosity for the nature around it, but remain rooted in their ideals until convinced by overwhelming evidence they are wrong. Their tribes are fairly cohesive and trade with one another fairly often. These tribes are usually ruled by the considered most competent of the tribe whether old or young doesn't matter. Female or male does not matter but the ruler or "Ser" has the right to pick his or her mate from anyone in the tribe that is not already mated to another tribe member. The Ser's test is done by having the Ser take three members of the tribe and leaving for several months. They must not only find the main tribe again but bring back all three members alive to be made Ser. If more than one strike out on their own and if the tribe is splintered drastically the tribe may break up into new tribes. When a Ser dies his or her mate will inherit or declare that another inherits but they may be challenged to take the test by another that wishes to be Ser or doubts their ability.

They do not have Gods but rather believe in universal spirits that govern the rules of the world and can not be appeased by anything other than good deeds. Good deeds are considered the sharing of personal gain, being a competent Ser, or passing on knowledge of the spirits or the world. This system has so far remained unchanged for generations whether that will continue is unknown for instance some tribes sees the Spirits as able to communicate to man through the weather while others believe the spirits do not care for man and only care for managing the balance of the world and its rulers.

Warfare between tribes used to be rare and ceremonially, but the tribes that see the spirits as just managers have begun to break these traditions and have gone to poison the waters of other tribes to drive them away from their lands so that they may take it from them. Most wars rely on either ceremonial combat involving non-lethal combat between two teams of champions using blunt and small clubs of wood. Otherwise it is subtle and usually involves poisons and other darker forms of destruction such as the out right killing of a tribe in combat which is considered taboo by a majority of the tribes.
Agriculture is mostly simple herding and small gardens grown near the water sources of various tribes. For the most part agriculture is just developing, but is catching on quickly with the tribes. The lack of true highly developed agriculture though limits the amount of time a tribe can live in one area and their populations so far. How long it will take for this condition to change will depend on the stability of the tribes and how warfare and trade develope among the tribes.

And the update has begun. :)

Culture Name: Dominika
Core Value: Liberty
Location: Pacific Islands
Aggression: 3
Expansion: 4
Cohesion: 2
Agriculture: 2
Sophistication: 4
Nation Names: Huntra, Carthon, Kertus, Kompendon
City Names: Thraxan, Dethisle, Kalja, Djarna
Ruler Names: Dynus, Phalerno, Jak, Rhandy
Description: An island culture centered around the islands of the South Pacific, the Dominkans have always been seafarers. The Dominkans are expert seafarers and fishermen. Each island that the Dominkans live on is controlled by its own council and chief, but these islands are not generally united, although merchants and travelers travel from island to island a lot. The Dominkan people are very hardy and innovative in their ways, and have a tendency to explore and colonize other islands not already in their grasp.

Dominikan society has no rigid class or caste system. Wealth is privatized, and there is much social mobility. There are varying degrees of wealth, and the council that rules generally is made up of richer Dominikans, although every level of society is represented. Dominikans generally use wood or stone tools, as there is not much metal to be found on remote islands. Domikans are generally pacifistic, but will not hezitate to fight if attacked.

Not too late of course :) Can you just give me what island you want to start on?

Alright :) Out of curiosity, how do you get links like that in your signature?

Alright :) Out of curiosity, how do you get links like that in your signature?

Use the URL tags. So if I wanted to link this thread for example, I would do something like:

Just add the L in the opening tag.

Sorry double post.

Actually I will start on the North Island of NZ. Slightly less isolated but still an island. Thanks ;)

Sophistication: 4
Nation Names: Rilkas, Ferisia, Sillak, Mohi
City Names: Yudis, Kitla, Besa, Horsak
Ruler Names: Sun-Wik, Yati-Mesad, Won-Sa, La-Suis
Description: A light-skinned, peaceful people on the Korean Peninsula, The Surnit People's live revolves around the key elements of, Unity, Peace, and Education. Disunity between families, and cities are frowned upon. While that does that mean disunity doesn't exist, it means it is kept to a minimum. The members of the Surnit culture always strive for peace, favoring Knowledge over war. The leader of the Surnit Tribes is the Kiman, who with a council of advisers, rules over the people. A caste system exists, with the higher classes being represented by the wise men, scholars, the Kiman, and his advisers.
Their religion focuses on a set of nature, and science gods called the Rizes. Rize Qinis is said to be the god of Knowledge and said to been the god who had taught the Surnits about science, and set the foundation for Surnit society. Rize Oris was the creator god, who had formed the current Earth after an event called The Destruction, which had happened when the original Earth was destroyed when the humans on it forgot the warnings the gods had given them before, and ended up killing themselves because of that. Finally Rize Hujim, was the one who created humans, and allowed their spread throughout the world. These three make up the Trinity, the focus of Surnit religion. While they worship more gods that these, the Trinity are given the most respect, and prayers.

Update 1-Genesis of Civilization

The world is indeed a strange place. As the ice melted, people settled. And grew. Cultures developed, and humanity began to do more than simply hunt. They reaped the harvests of the soil, and they toiled to create settlements and monuments. And they fought. Oh how they fought. For honor, for land, for the gods. It seemed already that the people of this planet were destined for suffering and for greatness, for glory and for death. It seems we are witnessing the genesis of a new world.

One of the earliest cultures to develop were the Ut. They were quite a powerful and sophisticated culture, and were one of the first to develop metal tools in lieu of stone ones. It gave the Ut an advantage over their neighbors, and they were able to conquer them. The Ut were united by their leaders, commonly assumed to be a deity, and instead of fighting one another, established the first Empire, Shia-Naram u Bau. The Ut seem to have a bright future ahead of them indeed.

To the West though, the Nannuk did not have the same fortunes as the Ut. Far more tenacious than the Ut, the Nannuk could easily have conquered many of their neighbors if it wasn’t for the fact that they were constantly fighting one another. Constantly shifting alliances and infighting has prevented the establishment of a state like Shia-Naram u Bau, and instead, the Nannuk stay within their own small chiefdoms, untrusting anyone outside of their clans. One good thing the Nannuk did get out of their constant warfare is that their constant seeking of advantages over others has caused metal weaponry to be introduced to their conflicts, and has given them perhaps the most formidable armies in these times.

Perhaps the only that can match the Ut in terms of development is the Cayun. Already they have developed an elected monarchy, a complex economy and they are the first to have put a vessel to sea. With these advances, the Cayun in the çekmek have already begun influencing their nearby neighbors, such as the Turyli and the Scythe.

The Turyli bordered the Cayun, but they were not as sophisticated as their neighbors. Still largely tribal, the best thing the Turyli have at the moment is their more united nature, and the fact that they seem to be poised to be a naval and trading power due to their strategic location and their seafaring, though they are behind çemek in that regard.

North of the Turyli are the Scythe people. Sharing a common ancestor with the Cayun, the Scythe are not as developed as the Cayun, but they seem poised to one day be on par with them. Though they did not develop ships and metal tools as quickly as the Cayun or the Turyli, the Scythe seem to be naturals at the game of seafaring and trade. With their chieftains preferring to trade than to fight eachother, the Scythe seem poised for a bright future.

To the West are the Masquere City States. Fighting, trading and farming, the Masquere have developed the river valley they reside in to bountiful farms and with the development of metal tools, they expanded that even further. The Masquere seem to be poised for a bright future indeed.

In the North, the Higelante people have established competing Kingdoms with one another. Unlike the Nannuk, the Higelante were able to bend some wills into what could pass for “Kingdoms”. Though not what some cultures in the East would consider stable nations, the Higelante have forged a semblance of order in a part of the world that is devoid of it, mainly due to their spears being tipped with metals.

Further north of the Higelante were the Thralingence. Though not as divided as the Higelante, and not as prone to infighting as the Nannuk, the Thralingence were quite war like. One hesitates to call them Chiefdoms, but at the same time, they are not tribals. Rather, they are a nation of raiders and fighters. Besides the metal weaponry, the Thralingence have the advantage of numbers over their local enemies, for they alone have begun the practice of farming exclusively instead of hunting.

Across the ocean, we have the Nehiimet. A truly tough people, they have forged themselves as the strongest peoples in the region. They alone have begun farming instead of hunting, and as a result, they have created a confederation of chiefdoms unlike any other in the region.

To the south, the Psion are a much smaller and more traditional culture than the Nehiimet. They have proven themselves to be better than the other locals at warfare, and have developed a hold on a small region, however their lack of agriculture prevents them from becoming an eastern style kingdom.

Across another ocean, we have the Dominika. Isolated from the world, they have developed a free flowing civilization constantly moving. Their unique style of sailing has helped battle the seas, and as a result has created a trading culture in their people. However, a lack of cohesion has made the Dominika unable to coordinate efforts of trade, and the agricultural base is at the present too small to sustain a large population.

Going north, the Surnit have established local dominance. A peaceful people, they prefer to bring people together through trade than war. One of the first to develop a written language, the Surnit have an unusually complex society, and seem to be doing well by developing the Kingdom of Rilkas.

In the south, the Abba have rallied around the Sun King and the Kingdom of Keoy-et. Mostly unconcerned with their neighbors, they have begun a peaceful life of farming with their new bronze tools.

Notes

If you'd prefer a different name besides Republic or Kingdom, let me know :)

The Scythe, the Turlyi, and the Cayun all have contact with each other, the Cayun can talk to the Nannuk, though there’s no central figure to talk to.

Eltain, LoE, Immaculate, and Red_Spy have pretty good control of their cultures due to them being united in centralized nations.

Besides the the Dominika, and the North Americans, everyone has metal tools

We are now around 2000 B.C. If you want to make your own calender system, go for it :)

For Update 2 Approx 500-600 years

Spoiler :
Tell me what you're focusing on. Developing farmland? Building an empire? A navy? You can focus on more than one thing, but if you try too many things, you're going to accomplish little, if anything. More sophisticated nations will have more success and will be able to focus on more things, while more cohesive nations will be able to better direct their efforts.

Also, tell me where you're going to expand, where you're trading, and where you're fighting wars.

After those two initial things, you can put anything you want in the orders. Post em in the thread with spoilers if you please :)

Example

Spoiler :

The Abba

We'll be focused on developing two things. The first is we're going to try to develop an efficient bureaucracy to better govern our nation. The second thing we'll do is try to develop more efficient ways to bring water to our fields.

Try expanding along the nearby river

In this time period, the Eros of Keoy-et will die without an heir. Initially their will be some infighting, but Pria Anya of Ziy-Shek was able to eventually overpower her rivals, and Lay-An-Au-Shek opened the gates to her. She crushed the remaining resistance, and established herself as the ruler of all the Abba. To replace disloyal Prii, she had a new bureaucracy develop that was loyal strictly to her and her heirs. She established the practice of the Eros having multiple spouses to ensure the continuity of the throne, and thus the Dayesh Clan solidified themselves as the rulers of this new nation.

This example will be found after updates and on the first page. You don't have to carbon copy this, but the focuses and expansions are quite important. Thank you for your cooperation :)
