nvm

My Firefox is working fine at nearly 0% CPU usage. Your computer might have caught teh aids.

Hey guys, dunno if this is the right subforum, but for some reason civfanatics tabs take quite a bit of cpu usage(ie over 60% of a core with a few of them on) both with firefox and opera. Perhaps some javascript inefficiency that could be solved or?

You have the freedom to find another Civilization Fan Site if you don't like this one. The joys of the free market.

Try firefox+adblock+noscript and see what happens...

edit: following the trend -

With one instance of firefox open, adblock plus and noscript active, and CFC as the only tab, my CPU is idling at 0%-2%. I'm running a dual-core processor at 2.4GHz.

With 2 tabs of CFC open my CPU is idling and about 500MB of memory is in use. And my PC is getting a little dated.

I heard Vista never idles the CPU on desktops, but as Godwynn points out he could always purchase and install another operating system if that is the case.

I think you have a problem, not CFC.

CFC x 5, 4% CPU usage.

No, it's the ads that CFC runs. With them enabled, sitting completely idle Opera (9.64) sits at 10-25% CPU usage. When they're blocked, it's at 0%.

I have no problems with ads or CPU Usage.

I'd suspect some weird perpetual banner ad.

Huh, weird - using Firefox 3.5 here on a piddly Intel Atom netbook (1.6 Ghz)... and it's running with 3%-4% with a fully loaded page with half a dozen tabs open or so.

Cheers, LT.

As someone so aptly put it: your computer has problems. With 12 tabs open, including 2 from CFC:

Firefox v3.5.2 with Adblock+ and NoScript.
