So yesterday it seems the New York Stock Exchange and United Airlines both down due to computer problems. First off, I am not complaining, thank goodness someone decided to be cautious and pull the plug.

But you sort of have to wonder if the two events are related. It the New York thing was a hack. I wonder if these two secure, robust systems can be shut down, what the heck is safe.

I hope computer people up their security game. I wonder if criminal penalties might help them focus on the problem.

I see the Wall Street Journal was also shut down.

I remember when occasional computer problems were expected, instead of immediately thinking it must be the result of hackers.

"The root cause was determined to be a configuration issue," an NYSE spokesman said Wednesday evening.

The Department of Homeland Security told CNN that there is "no sign of malicious activity" at the NYSE or with an earlier outage experienced by United Airlines. The FBI says it reached out to NYSE and "no further law enforcement action is needed at this time."
Thankfully, we now have Homeland Security and the FBI immediately meddling in most everything which occurs.

Now it is a conspiracy.
