OB02 - Giving is Better than Receiving

Sorry for not posting sooner, been a bit sick lately.

I didn't do anything during the "zero" turn, though I did notice the oddity that our calendar still read 200 BC, when Jesus was clearly already born according to Immaculate. Anyway...

1:Munich finishes the settler who goes to the gold site. It sarts on a worker, which we do need.

Oh, and the three wise men's cousins showed up south of Hamburg, trying to get some presents as well. Didn't see any rules that said we had to listen to their demands, so mall security was called in.
(Barbs near hamburg)
http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=145346&stc=1&d=1167802560

3: Due to our no-chopping-forests-en-masse policy, we got a new one, south of hamburg. Bet that surprised the barbs. Oh, and a worker is farming some rice near Cologne.
http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=145347&stc=1&d=1167803148

I also saw Monty's city Teotihuacan, whose strongest unit is a spearman.

4:The unruly inlaws are getting closer to Hamburg. Mall security is sharpeing thier axes.

5: Frankfurt, the soon-to-be golden city, is settled. And Monty even gave us a gift, some mined gold hills. Just need some culture in Frankfurt.

6:Mansa heard about christmas, and wanted another gift:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=145348&stc=1&d=1167803377

Oh, and munich finished its worker, which is now building a road to frankfurt.

7: Unforunately, Monty built a road to Frankfurt sooner. No, he didn't attack it. But Buddhism has now a foot hold in our territory.
http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=145349&stc=1&d=1167803499

8:Finally decided to convert to Christianity...oops

9:Monty was very naughty this turn. Instead of asking for a gift, he returned one from before that he didn't like.(Open borders with Aztecs gone) Also, they had the nerve to kick our warrior taking a tour through their lands here:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=145350&stc=1&d=1167803841
(Notice he is on the wrong side of the border...)

Anyways, thats ten turns(last one was boring).
Alphabet in 11 turns
Frankfurt worker in 12, though you can change that, I think.

The barbs, after wandering a bit, suicided themselves on our chariot.
The stranded warrior is currently heading north, after discovering something that looks a bit like a candy cane in the snow.

Good job, Immac, but I wished you had scaled your pics down a bit ;)

--

Yeah, me too. I've been wondering how to do that for awhile. i have paint. Is there a way to do that outside of paint or using some freeware of some sort?

I.

I found something very intriguing about this game. Its not a major point, but having the creative trait and a free monument (wonder provided) makes for an interesting combination that i never really get in my solo games (don't usually play creative and NEVER get stonehedge). It means that we can settle aggressively and poach resources. I had never really done that too much before.

Well Asoka has Alphabet, which means he can ask us for our precious Theology for free. How about this instead?

There are no more obvious locations for cities, so we'll just have to take some :). But not yet.

We're at turn 117, so I'll play to 130!

Monty wants a present.

We now have 3 AI not talking to us.

Mansu and Mao are good boys but I don't have any presents for them :p.

Alex is back talking but wants a present.

Our next GP is born and sent to the Holy City

Alphabet comes in. I pick construction. The following trades are done.

Mansu wants a present.

Things are looking OK, until we are asked to declare on someone! I've had a few military builds and whipped a library in unhappy Hamburg. With Calendar and Monarchy, we can start bringing the :)s on line. When we get Construction, we should pay Monte a visit (or Asoka who is miles ahead tech wise and will get the GL).

The elf is making a list
of who's good and who's been naughty,
and guess what is surprising
Santa himself is on the no-gifts list!

Here's why:

santaad0375workerdp4.jpg

:nono: Breaking your own variant, eh?

A ray of hope flickers in the sky
A tiny star lights up way up high
All across the land dawns a brand new morn
This comes to pass when a child is born

santaad0400shrinetx6.jpg

The elf is making a list
of who's good and who's been naughty,
Alex walks away with a gift
and priesthood is sold cheaply to Monty

santa-AD0450-monty.jpg

Hmm ... how did this dude know "we can't refuse"? OMG! The AI knows our variant! :run:

santa-AD0475-alex.jpg

With the money
We got from Monty
full power to the research institution
Got us in the elf's last turn construction

santaad0600constructioncb3.jpg

Our power and demographs aint pretty,
so I suggest we keep pumping out the 'pults
And for those who had been naughty,
Give them a good hard kick with Santa's boot!

Well, somebody has definitely been naughty. So he decides to try to take some presents by himself.

civ4screenshot0009mf7.jpg

And had some bad luck against a Horse Archer, lost two units at ~75% against the same unit.

I got our war machine cranking, so we now got some catapults, with more swords and catapults on the way.

And we are ready to take Kolhapur, I could have taken it, but I wanted your opinion on wether to keep it or not. So the next player should take it in turn 0.

We got closer to CoL with two turns remaining, and are steady at 60%.
Btw, should we be first to get coal, so we can give it to those naughty boys out there?

Turn 9: Hamburg and Cologne, Catapult -> Swordsman.

Turn 10: The Charge on Kelhapur: Catapult takes out the first Archer. Swordsman the second. And...

My thought is to keep it because even though it overlaps with Munich it fits in well with Tenochtitlan and Delhi.
