OB04 - Five Is The Magic Number

Honestly, I completely forgot about my own 5 Buildings rule.

Feel free to change the build orders in Cuzco. I probably screwed up by whipping a granary there. Sorry guys.

If we use Cuzco as a military centre (which I think we should as it has great production) a granary is a good idea as it will get whipped every military campaign.

We have trade route with Rameses so we should get OB's with him.
Shaka has two cities other than his capital, one we can see the borders of which doesnt seem to be in best position. Will move axes down to that front and replace archers in two captured Incan cities, explore a bit more to West of Old Inca.
Tech wise do we go for Const after Maths or do we take AH first as we now have a couple of animal resources??
Build wise
Babylon Cuzco Tiwan
Barracks Granary Granary
Granary Barracks Lib
Lib Forge Market
Forge Bank
Uni/Grocer

Babylon will finish Library next turn as it is capital will get Palace and Bureuacracy bonus, so probably worth it. Tiwan has lots of cottageable land so is it worth sacrificing Grocer for Uni?? May need to sub in some C/houses too??

Will play inbetween innings in the cricket approx 1pm GMT or 10:15am if England bat first!!

Is our goal to take down Shaka now, rather than later? If so, then Construction. If Shaka can wait, then I'd say food first, then Currency.

Code:
Build wise
Babylon Cuzco Tiwan
Barracks Granary Granary
Granary Barracks Lib
Lib Forge Market
Forge Bank
                                                Uni/Grocer
This didn't make any sense to me, until I quoted your message. The tabs are expanded in the reply screen, but not in the normal thread view. :crazyeye: I put some code tags around it to make it a bit more readable.

I assume that you are putting the cash buildings in Tiwanaku because of the future shrine? Makes sense. But I think I'd like to hold off building any of them until we actually have a Prophet in our hands. You never know if we might have trouble popping one out. And depending on which religion gets more spread, we might even end up building the Hindu shrine, instead.

Played nine,

We have six axes in the vicinity N of Shaka, agreed to open borders with him to scout his land. He has 2 other cities, one north and one west of his capital. I haven't seen the land the far side of his capital yet but he only has archers defending cities, (3-4 in each), some have gained CG1. His cities are all on flat land and have culture defense of at least 20%. We should be able to take the cities with about ratio of 1-1.5 axes per archer which shuouldn't be a problem as there is little else to build. The problem is our economy would probably not cope with the extra burden capturing these far away cities this early. We could just destroy him to take his gold whilst we try to recover our economy.
There is a barb city NE of us which we could use to gain units some experience or could help draw out some of Shakas defenders?? If we decide to leave Shaka for later then we should raize this city now if we go for Shaka we could leave for later.
We have AH in one but after that we are going to be short of funds to keep a high sci rate. Build wise Babylon finished Library, Cuzco barracks, Tiwanaku granary; other than that built axes.
I stopped at nine as was unsure which way we wanted to go next up should take 11 to even it out.
Sorry for lack of screenies but ther wasnt much to show until I stopped and can see that from the save.

Ps Well done to Conroe for deciphering previous post, guess I should have checked it first before posting

OK, got it.

Should be able to play in next couple of days.

As for builds, we would need monastery instead of library in Tiwanaku to make sure of religion spread. We've got to build a temple or wonder to get GP points, could build temple instead of library. We need to think about courthouses in some cities as well (this 5 building rule is hard).

I think we should take down Shaka (isn't great to leave him alone) if we have a chance now. If he has any really nice cities keep, otherwise raze.

I'd also be keen to get a hold of Alphabet soon for some tech trading.

In further great news, the patch doesn't seem to be backwards compatible, ie once you upgrade those with 3.03 can't open the saves. This is going to play havoc with SGs everywhere.

I haven't patched (well I did but re-installed from scratch). Who has and who hasn't? We'll need to sort out an all-in (one way or the other) approach.

First thing I notice is the barb city, look an all right spot.

Next is Tiwanaku's library. To me, this city is our shrine city so needs bank, grocer, currency, monastery and temple (for GP). We've already got a granary so can't build all those, a library will knock out another, so I cancel it and build axes.

Animal Husbandry is in. Think either Alphabet or Iron Working. Decide on Alphabet to get early trade opportunities.

Barb city is size 1. Leave it alone.

Declare on Shaka.

Our finances reek, negative at 20%. Actually we're going to go broke. I decide I need to raze the barb city for some cash.

I then realise we have no cottages going anywhere. Oh dear.

First cash injection to the economy.

A GG is born.

I employ two scientists in Babylon and one in Cuzco to limit growth and speed Alphabet along.

I'm pillaging madly in zulu land. Ulundi only has two archers and 40% defense, we may be able to raze it. I have 6 axes in the vicinity, most injured (I have a medic though).

Once we get some cottages up and running, we should be able to expand the empire somewhat. Given the building restrictions I think we're going to have a large army roaming most of the game, so razin' for cash seems to be the way of the game. I've started a settler in Cuzco to be able to settle the barb city site once we can afford it.

Hopefully we can get some good trade worth out of Alphabet and extort some tech for peace from Shaka.

The more I think about it, we're going to need a temple in Tiwanaku to get the Great Priest (which we wil need for finances), so may have to do without a Grocer.

Roster

Ozbenno - Just done
Ralph Jackson - UP
Conroe - On Deck
Kodii -
Mighty Dwaarf -

We have used:

1/5 settled cities
2/5 captured cities
1/5 civics changes
0/5 Great People
0/5 Wonders

If we get organized religion we can build missionaries without the need for a monastry which will give us another city build option.

Ok Got it, trying to dual install so I can play in either version. As I am up in another game will be monday before I can play / report.

Ralph

No problems, I have dual installed so will play it as 3.03 until its confirmed we have all patched up
