Snipelfritz: We have an official Cartographer. If you don't have Photoshop or PSP then maybe you could avail yourself of his sevices. No criticism intended but I can't tell some of the colours apart and your handwriting stinks. :mischief: :joke:

#7 should be first, then #4.

If I am correct, the light green square is on a gold hill. That would be jolly helpful in filling the coffers, not to mention that the extra defense should the Indians attack/counterattack would not hurt.

I'm for the 4 turn settler factory to compliment Camelot's 4 turn combo military and worker factory. We should be able to have 1 worker, 1 warrior, and 1 settler every 4 turns. This is just about perfect for our expansion.

I voted for #2.

Hardly a challenge; gold hill = lots of extra commerce = the basis of the English Civ. Combined with 2 cows (later on) it will be a killer-city.

But do we need it NOW? The Indian War is being voted down (presumably) so we can expand. The best way to expand quickly is to build on spot #2 and (in conjunction with Camelot) produce a settler, warrior and worker every four turns. We can build city number three on the gold hill. And soon after we'll have city number fur and city number five.

This poll isn't about finding the best long term city site - it's about where to best place our next city in order to fulfill ur short term goals.

we should settle spot #7 first and then spot #3.

In the nominations thread for the Director of expansions' office you stated that building outside in was a very bad thing to do because of the new corruption algorithm which takes into account the order in which towns are founded.
Now you advocate building our first city at distance 6.5 and our second closer at 5.5. We have a poll that will limit city density to around 13 tiles per. So we will have to build cities even closer.

Can you square this circle for me please?

This poll would have rated Fair in the polling standards. The following items could use improvement.

  • No link to related discussion thread
  • The image is a bit small making it hard to tell what is on the related tiles.
  • There were too many options. When this many options exist it is better to have a first poll to sort out the leaders from the pack, and then a 2nd poll to decide from among the leaders.

Since we did not produce a settler yet, there is time to run the followup poll. I would suggest a runoff between #2 and #7. :D

I think it would generally be good to hold runoffs in situations like this as standard practice. Those people who haven't voted on the top choices should have the chance to pick one or the other. After all the second city placement is a major decisioin.

Looks like the purple city won :D

It is already standard practice to hold runoffs when there are so many options to choose from, when we have time. Since meeting additional neighbors leaves us with the luxury of additional time, we should use it.
