Official System Requirements

I was preparing myself to buy a new pc after i had seen requirements few weeks ago, but demo was very positive surprise for me! I have laptop with Core 2 Duo 1.6ghz, 2gb ram, and GeForce 8400M GS (with only 128mb dedicated ram...) and sure: 3d view is quite laggy after 100 turns, but Strategic View is completly smoth. It's really great! Greate idea to implement nice looking 3D engine and as simple as possible, but yet complete 2D engine. Great job!

So for all of you wandering about minimal requirements, give the demo @ strategic view chance.

btw, playing lowest details @ 1280x800 resolution. Probalby in late games or on bigger maps, cpu and/or ram will be bottleneck, but who ram is cheap and easily upgradeable. CPU? What the heck, only a little more time to wait between turns.

I have the same graphics card, and with the demo as with the game, DX9 mode seems to work better. Tried the main game this night, and DX10/11 painted some squares on the map gray. Plus, DX9 seems to have a better framerate.

Also, I do not quite understand the attached cyri information. All requirements are met, aren't they?

What "Can you run it?" tells me:

CPU
Minimum: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz or AMD Athlon X2 64 2.0 GHz
You Have: AMD Athlon(tm) II P320 Dual-Core Processor
Upgrade Suggested: Unfortunately, your CPU does not meet this requirement. Click here to see some recommendations.

CPU Speed
Minimum: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz or AMD Athlon X2 64 2.0 GHz
You Have: 2.09 GHz
Upgrade Suggested: Unfortunately, your CPU Speed does not meet this requirement. Click here to see some recommendations.

Should i take this seriously, am I not able to play the game? :(

Final decisionl:

Hell, it's just one game. Mimimum requirements are met.

How not?

From the wikipedia page:

Minimum: ...or Core i3 or better integrated graphics

Wikipedia aren't lying to me, are they? :(

Ok, I'm looking for a new Laptop, and the two priorities are budget (this is the upper limit of my budget), and being able to play Civ 5 well. My current Laptop is stuttering along with it, but no way would it be able to cope with larger than a small map.

Would this fit the bill? Thanks.

Might be better off with a quad core Satellite A660-18D for £750 - PC World/Currys etc

NVIDIA® GeForce® G 310M with CUDA™ technology - 512 MB dedicated DDR3 memory
Intel® Core™ i7-740QM Processor - 1.73 GHz - 2.5 GT/s DMI - 6MB Smart Cache

I'm not sure about the graphics card though - would the game run on this ok?

Either of those has a pretty weak video card, it should run though. The ATI is preferable, as it is a DX11 chip. If you can squeeze it into your budget, you should really look for a laptop with a ATI HD 5650.

Hey thanks - yes looks like good advice - I got the software software here - just researching how much to splash out on a long overdue new laptop...

Intel® Core™ i5-430M Core Processor 2.26GHz
1GB ATI® Radeon™ HD 5650 Graphics card
4096MB 1333MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM

looks like a better spec for the same price around 700-800?
