A helpful hint if you want a transparent background that I didn't see mentioned in the first few posts that I looked at.

Give the image a matte that is the same colour as the background colour here. It will look waaay better. Course, I don't know exactly what colour it is, that'd need a bit of expermentation to get right.

I don't see anything wrong with it? What do you mean by busy?
Why do you want to know?

By busy, I meant did the background mess it up.

Being colorblind I always have to get another opinion concerning pictures. I have lots of pictures of people with red eyes they tell me, but they look fine to me.

I have a couple of programs that can do that stuff. I shall experiment and me experimenting with colors drives my family nuts. I am forever asking what color is this. To me Army Drab is beautiful.

Problem is there is now 6 (if I am remembering correctly) different "skins" that you can use when viewing the forums.

BUT...

Plexus has written a WONDERFUL "Anti-aliasing" tutorial. It is linked on the first post but here it is again ;) Anti-aliasing Your Transparent Avatars

At the same time, if you give us the "skin" you are using we CAN use that "matte color" for your background. But we can't garuntee that all users will see it the same as you :)

Lyonesse is right, of course. Everybody uses different skins, so using a matte won't help at all. As Plexus suggests, an outline works much better. Check out the link - it's required reading! :D :goodjob:

It looks (to me) brown and grey, I think it is called modern CFC. As soon as I remember where to look, I will make sure.

Thanks Misfit! I had no idea that TF had finally added the Mac OS X style! Woo-Hoo!!

Tha MAc OS X style has been there for ages. :p

I liked the one in vB2 more... this one's a little too gray... but really cool still, I'm using it now. :)

Ah ha thanks, it is the Modern CFC.

Why would I suddenly start getting a message when I go to the Civ site that a script on the page will cause explorerer to run slower? It also gives me a choice (Yes or No) to abort the script.

Or should I go to another place to ask this question?

If you are getting script errors, you need to note which banner ad is at the bottom, and report it in SF. There has been ongoing problems with browser hijacking ads, etc.

They went away for a while, maybe telefragged has started putting third party ads back in....

Gimp is a graphics program... how can something be anti-gimp?
Anti Gimp like I HATE GIMP!
Like MarineCorps avatar.
Taking that stupid little wolf ( or whatever it is) and putting the thing on it

MarineCorps avatar...:hmm:

Oh, the anti-aol one.

I've never used GIMP so I don't know about any wolf.

And what's so bad in it anyway to give a reason to hate it?
