Olympic Basketball

Americans seem to be making too many exscuzes. Simple fact of the matter is that the American team didn't excpect foreign competition to be as challenging as it was, and this is a team of guys who never played together really, whereas the other teams have been together for years. This is because other countries take international basketball far more seriously compared to the people who run international basketball for the Americans who basically accept to win with ease like the Dream Team in 92. I'm actually pretty happy because now maybe American basketball will get more serious about world/olympic competitions.

So the United States will fight for the Bronze medal. This is quite sad for the US team but now the Stars who refused to go to Athens are the only one who can feel guilty about it.

Why? You said it yourself. It's only the Olympics. There are other sports where this tournament doesn't really count: tennis, football, cycling. Yes even cycling. Armstrong can't be bothered and Ullrich rather wins the Tour than the Olympics. Others prefer the world championship over the Olympics (like Boogerd).

Only difference here: Olympic baketball counts for all countries, except the USA.

Congratulations to European basketball and the teams that played like a team and beat the USA!! i guarantee you that the foreign stars of this olympics will end up in nba basketball!!

that said.. don't forget.. the real basketball is played in the nba ;) the foreign players that are drafted into the nba from this olympics will have to learn how to play nba basketball... which is more demanding that european style basketball... manu ginobli already knows this.... nba basketball is more demanding than european basketball

Speaking of women's basketball, how many of you were cheering for the aussies and are not australian? ;) No offense to anyone, the americans were the better team playing basketball, but in the rest, it was the biggest difference I've ever seen, if you know what I mean... ;)
