I watched it and enjoyed it. My only major complaint was Iran's choice of flag bearer, Arash Miresmaeili, who dropped out of the judo competition because he had to go up against an Israeli in the first round.

Oh. I understand now. Thanks for the information.

BTW did anyone notice the 2 Koreas fielded a joint team? They carried a flag featuring a map of a united Korea instead of either of their respective flags. :) Is this a sign?

This happened at the Sydney 2000 Olympics as well, so I don't think it's anything new. It is nice to see though.

Yeah I knew French was one of the official language at the Olympics, but I recently heard that English was eating some more and more parts... So I wondered if French wouldn't be forgotten in the long run in a uniformed Anglo-Saxon world... :( I think it is just a nice thing, because Coubertin had to fight hard to carry on his baby in the early XXth century. BTW, I watched a summary of all the previous Olympics just after the Athens Opening, and they said that St. Louis in 1904 completely messed with the spirit by organizing silly events... Silly Americans, trying to steal our culture but only messing with it...

I couldn't care less about the olympic games, it really doesn't interest me.

i watched the parade a bit and smilied for those brave countries with 4 athletes. :)

:rotfl:
You probably missed the ones that had only one athlete -- just their flagbearers!

On a more serious tone, there were really countries that had only one athlete. And that one was (on the times that I payed enough attention to listen) usually the flagbearer.
