Im just posting after loading the title screen perfectly, I didnt even play it yet so it might not solve everything, here what ya do if you cant load the game.

1. Uninstall everything the proper way tech supports says, with a reinstall.
2. Do the widly known unpack fix for initialize error(im unsing ati 9600 pro)
3. In windows turn on the setting to see hidden files
4.Go to C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\My Games\Civilization4
5. If there is a folder called "cache" in there delete the folder. It may be corrupted, preventing loading.
6. Run the game, it worked for me and a new cache folder was made.

Time to play, if it's not buggy you wont hear from me in a while;)

Cool. :) Keep us updated.

It's always a good idea to delete the cache folder afer making changes to the game (ex. after patching, unpaking).

sorry for posting this cache delete thing again, I forgot it was already posted....so far no errors, the graphics and the movies are a little slow though. In dxdiag, im using full sound acceleration, some people said to turn it off but its working for me on full.

80 minutes? That's quite impressive. :)

I think your crashes are due to the memory leak problem that is floating around. Best thing to do is save/reload every 30 minutes. While this may not be an acceptable fix, it will at least allow you to play until the leak is patched.
