On Duterte

I think he would actually.

Try harder.

Turn. The. Police. Loose.

Anyway it works here.

The difference being Asians love being under authority and punishment, so give them a strongman who would punish them and there'll be order. This narrative has been repeated so often, including by white flunkies, that maybe it perpetuates itself in reality.

If you don't succeed the first time, try, try again. Did the president of the US get up behind his podium and tell the police he would take full responsibility? I think the scale of the effort might not have been up to what's working here.

I can tell that you guys don't watch videos. Well, here's one for ya...these "Asian lovers of authority and punishment" seem out of step with your theory...

we have a constitution that limits politicians and the guns they hire to enforce their will

I guess the folks here aren't as convinced as you are that the constitution exists to protect the guilty.

The Constitution doesn't give him the authority to take responsibility and yer buddy is lying, just like when Trump said he'd pay the legal fees of thugs assaulting protesters at his rallies

But Asians also hate corruption (because it seems to happen all the time). Have you not heard enough Sino legends and seen Sino period dramas? Corrupt officials are always the number 1 villains.

Strong emperor good; corrupt emperor bad.

Sure, if Duterte doesn't die in office I think it likely he'll die in prison.

Maybe he was in pain?

My wife went into Jagna and past her huge Catholic church built a few hundred years ago. Its a day with no normal church services, yet the place is overflowing. She stopped to find out what was up, and it was all folks who used drugs turning themselves in. This is a fairly small town. In all the Philippines hundreds of thousands have done so. The country is kicking the habit in typical Filipino style, together. The nation loves him, for the most part. Pushers not so much.
