Onan's multisession G&K, Alternate Reality Game (8pm in Auckland, GMT +13)

I like land battles (as you might've noticed from all other games :p) so any map that doesnt require beeline navigation is good with me. You have more of a choice how you want to play if navigation isnt crucial.

Agree. One tech unlocks two powerful naval units.

But I like some naval activities because they are interesting since G&K. A mix of both naval and land will be great. So using the continent landmass in that map seems ok. One can always settle capital away from coastal to avoid navy completely.

I've been taking a look at that map, looks good, especially since you can choose the land mass type and sea level.

Picks or random civs, or as we please? Probably asking cause Celts plus goddess of the hunt is possibly OP for the map.

If everyone goes for random I will go random, but if some choose a civ, i going to choose a civ to ;-)

I will go random and see if a story can be told. I don't want to play the Celts or Iroquois just because of forests.

Agreed as well. If someone gets one of those at random, are we happy for those stories to be told?

8 am?

Okay I'm in

Hi, welcome!

since your registration is quite new, hope you realise this game series requires extra commitment and scheduling. It's likely to be run over a month or two, and requires 2-3 hours in your weekend mornings.

:goodjob:

E speaks the truth. Also fair to say we have some seriously competent players here, and everyone is expected to stay with the game, at least as long as they retain their capital, though longer would be better. Fight to the end! If you're fighting that is. :)

Edit: that said, it's always good to have a 'new' player join us. Welcome.

Funny. I for one won't underestimate you, though--I've done it before and you usually end up paying for it!

So you're in Europe? Which country?

I like the idea of playing a massive Civ5 game with a story, but I don't know if I will have the time to participate. However, Friday at 11pm Pacific time should work on most weeks if I can join.

11 pm Friday Pacific is 8 pm Saturday Auckland?

In that case I think now we have 8 players at least. Looking forward to this Saturday!

Yep, it's effectively only three hours difference at this time of year (really 21 hours), instead of the usual five. They fall back while we spring forward.

I hope you do join us, Brenador. The time is set, and it will be weekends only, but we can do either day (Friday or Saturday at that time for you). The aim is to maintain one session per weekend until the game is finished.

Assuming all goes well, we are a little over five days from game time. Hopefully we do get 8; if we only get 6, we'll start anyway. Don't miss out! :D
