Onan's Naval GMR game (G&K)

And the world holds its breath. Closest neighbours are Polynesia and Ottomans, or will it perhaps be someone else far off in the horizon? We will see soon enough.

Danish waters were visited by a Carthaginian caravel a few years back. :faint:

Are some of you begin to be nervous? :D

We are at peace with our fate. If Death comes, we will sing our death song and welcome Him.

Enterprising Danish scouts have discovered the Fleet, led by Admiral Doukas, nearing our city of Ribe.

We are prepared to discuss terms for surrender, including the peaceful transfer of Ribe, and its iron supplies, to the Carthaginian Empire. In return we ask that our other, ironless cities be left to carry on as good Vassals to the Carthaginians, keeping them supplied with Truffles, and doing their every bidding. Leave our mainland intact, take our six iron to increase your fleet, and our marble and the city with it, and carry on with your plans for world domination. We accept your supremacy, and seek only to breed in peace, as we are not fond of work.

What says our new Overlord?

The Dutch people will come to help and push back the Carthage plague. We will liberate Ribe back to Danish control. What we ask is the Danish people not to backstab us and provide military intel to assist the Dutch navy :scan:

Across all universes, we challenge you to find a single instance where we have broken an alliance or defensive pact and attacked a player with whom we have made such a deal (I am not talking about trade arrangements). Your continued misuse of the term backstab impugns our reputation, and it must stop.

We await word from our new Overlord as to whether he will accept our city, our iron, and our marble as a gift. We seek only to spare the suffering of our citizens, and preserve our heritage buildings (library, colloseum nearly complete, and more), that they may be enjoyed in full by our Carthaginian masters.

Well, the Dutch thought if we help the Danish people defend, we will be ally or close friend in some form, but it turns out the Danish people would rather giving up any resistance just to survive and aid Carthage aggression? :(

Are you actually able to help in two turns, when Ribe will be attacked and may already fall?

Our own resistance would be futile, as we have neglected our military and navy. Thus, as a ruler who cares for his people, we seek arrangements which will spare their lives. If you are able to stop their deaths before they happen, of course we would be eternally grateful. Of course we would be happy to have an unexpected ally come to our aid. But with ships rather than words. We have seen no ships, and frankly, we doubt your ability to prevent the sacking of our cities, even if we do all we can to defend ourselves--which unfortunately is extremely little.

The time you will begin to think that you need to attack me you will be already dead.

Steal iron? How? I'm not having iron from cs. If you want to ''steal'' my iron you need to be prepared.

Me : :king:
Others :

We . Why does our :king: not give us direction? We are a lost people, and admire your greatness. We yearn to join your empire.

Ribe may not be the real target. And it takes a few turns to attack and heal ships if Carthage is really going after Ribe. If not, Danish just accelerate their aggression at no cost to them.

The two scenarios give completely different outcomes.

By the way, pilliaging your iron tile after capture also helps. Don't give up.

Words words words...EEE, what kind of tomb do you want? I can make some with marble, ivory and even gold and some other luxuries. Since Onan and you are my primary targets you have the entire choice. I let you 10 turns to decide...probably less :assimilate:

It takes you 5 turns to show in our faces, and it is all what we need. Come along and leave the Danish.

Leveraging is important. I will make sure to have at least twice army than you.

There are always multiple outcomes. No cost to them and benefit to us. Sounds like a deal, no? If you can prevent it, please go ahead, we will be grateful forever.

Harald does not know the meaning of these words, 'give up'. We would never install a robot to guide our people, we would never abandon them. Harald does know about pointless suffering and death, and cares too much for his people to invite it to fall upon them.

Most of the fleet has vanished. One frigate is heading west, south of Ribe. That is all we can see.

When will the :king: visit his :bowdown:s?
