This is very aggervating: for the last two days, I have been unable to convince my computer to connect to CFC. I keep getting an "internet explorer cannot display the webpage" message whenever I try to go to CFC. I was able to log on just fine in the school computer lab, but my home computer is simply unable to connect at all. I have finally convinced it to do so by using a proxy, but even that fought me a bit.

Usually, I can just refresh or try it again, and I will connect just fine, but this has been consistent for the past two days.

Is this somehow connected to our recent jump between servers? The forum update? Or is something else wrong?

By the way, if the only advice you have for me is "IE suxxors, get Firefox," then go away WITHOUT posting, because I already don't care what you have to say.

Have you considered clearing your cache? Since that may be part of the problem.

And this applies to all web browsers, not just Firefox and IE.

The cache refers to your browsing history; the browser saves copies of pages you visit so that they load faster in the future, but this can lead to outdated pages. Thus, you can clear your cache. For IE7, it's Tools -> Delete Browsing History (or, Tools -> Internet Options -> Delete Browsing History). It's probably something similar for IE6.

I'm not quite sure why you'd keep getting error messages.

Someone emailed me saying he has been having trouble accessing the site for the last couple days also. I told him to use a proxy server (ex. http://www.myinternetproxy.com/) to connect for now. We most likely will move back to our original server this weekend.

So you think that the server move is the problem, then?

Try again... Telefragged said they changed something which should help.

This is a sign.

Your computer is telling you to stop browsing CFC.

oh and by the way: IE suxxors, get Firefox.

No, I'm Cheezy. :p

The weirdest part is that I have no problem getting on here on the computer lab PCs, which is how I'm on here right now, but at home (only a mile away) I need to use that silly proxy to get here.

Sounds like there is something wrong with whatever DNS server you are using at home. It probably hasn't been updated to point to the new server of the forum. The issue should resolve itself eventually, but if you don't want to wait, you could try using a different DNS server. Like this one.

I thought I would mention that even the proxy has begun dropping CFC, I have to hit Back constantly.

I'll try this when I get home tonight from work.

It has happen to me, with Firefox and Opera, so isnt the browser. Hope you fix those problems!

This problem is very strange. I can connect with my laptop inside my house, while in my PC i cant. Ive tried IE, firefox and opera 9.5 beta.

I tried to do this when you showed it to me in #fiftychat, but I think I need to register an account or something with Open DNS? I don't know, but when I changed it how it told me to, nothing happened, and I still couldn't log onto CFC.
