Origin of the Goths

What does "single people" mean to you? What meaning do the terms "the Celts", "the Romans" and "the Goths" have to you? To me they're large enough groups of people in history that show similar cultural identity, language and cohesiveness to separate them from the neighboring peoples. There are some benefits in being able to generalize and group similar characteristics together..
The Celts were nothing of the sort even when marginalized to the outer limits of an island chain. It's very suspect that they had any more cohesion when they were touching down around Galatia and Galicia at the same time.

Precisely. The only similarities the Celts seemed to have as a group was linguistic, and even that's an open question. One has to wonder if a Roman cataloguing the languages of Asia Minor would really be qualified to notice the difference between an actual linguistic relationship with the La Tene culture or just minor similarities which he then conflated. This is how a so-called relationship between Rapanui - the written language of Easter Island - and Harappan - an Indian civilisation - came to light.
