Orthanc's Creation Thread

You know, depending on size your schooner may work for the merchant man.

The schooner is a little over half the size of the default frigate, hope that helps.

Well the Doombringer's coming along, I should be able to make decent progress on the model today, since I don't have much else to do (for today at least). Here's what I got:

I just have to put the cannons in now. Hopefully I'll get a few animations done by tonight. How's it look?

Orthanc...you said you wanted pics...here are some links...If I post the pics, they will be too small to get a good view...AND there is a Mesh available for the Ha'Tak (If its still there, and I linked it right)

I really hope that is still there

I hope thats enough to get a good view...and idea of the unit...
The Al'kesh moves more or less in the same manner as a Star Trek shuttle...they are "slow and steady" bombers...
The Ha'Tak is HUGE, so I guess it should be as big as a unit is capable of being....like the Star destroyer from the ST mod, or even bigger...Thanx ahead of time, for considering it...

Darn it, my internet is so screwy, I had to write this twice.

Anyways, thanks for the images Spacer One. It'll be interesting making some of the 'organic' shapes in those models, but my Ragnarok has taught me alot there, aso I have no major concerns.

Yeah, the masts would make this thing quite tipsy, but I've actually slimmed them down from the original image provided to me. I only had one image, of an actual model, to work from, so that's what everything was based on.

lol, Mr. Orthanc, has anyone figured out yet were my user name is from?

On the Doombringer preview (GO SKAVEN! by the way :) ) I think it's coming along great - but since most of the pics you're probably referring to are rather crude models I think it would look better if you textured it more like your larger ships, altered the back masts as suggested, and smoothed the sharp angles on the hull. It's Warhammer though so it can be a little outlandish (i.e. unseaworthy :crazyeye: ). But anything you can release for the Skaven is greatly appreciated!

I might be making a Gould mothership eventually, so don't lump it on Mr. Orthanc...:)

@SoG...I think there is a mesh for the Ha'tak (mother ship)...any chance I could get you to take on the Alkesh?...and whats "eventually"?...Im not waiting for it, but I need these for the "Battle of Dakara" scenario Im working on...

@orthanc...I understand your issues with the unit, as you seem to focus on boats, but with the lack of unit creators, Im just glad someone might do these...

if either of you make these(or either one) you will earn my eternal gratitude as they will allow me to complete something for a change...instead of just helping with stuffs...

Orthanc - One of the seven palantíri or Seeing-stones brought to Middle-earth by Elendil, and kept in the ancient stronghold of Orthanc. It was discovered there by Saruman when he took Isengard as his base, and used by him in his treacherous dealings with Sauron.

Do I win a prize?...

@LizardmenRule!: You're very welcome, since you're happy with this, and you're the one who reuqested it, and the fact that I'm very close to completion with plenty of other units that need doing now, I don't think I'll be making any changes to the model than what I have now. Hope that's all right with you Antiochus VII. All I've added to the model to finish it are the cannons, which I moved from below the deck to at its sides so you can see them.

@Sword_Of_Geddon: I will be doing mostly sea units, these two Spacer One requested won't be started until sometime in November, I've got a lot of boats that have been requested before to do first. I very much doubt I'll ever have anything quite like the Ragnarok again, my point was a few of the modelling techniques there will be used with the units Spacer One wants.

@Bjornlo: Yes, it is from Tolkien, but...

@Spacer One: Bingo! Orthanc is the tower in the middle of Isengard, if I remember correctly it can't be destroyed unless the world below it crumbles, which is why even the Ents couldn't dent it. Your prize is this excellent picture of a model Orthanc I found somewhere. I gotta make this tower some day.:D

EDIT: The unit's done now, check out it's thread in the usual place.

I have a few things I have to do first but as you can see in my signiture I do have plans to do some sci-fi units. Another one I am going to tackle is a Serpent Guard unit.

Any chance of the "Jack Oneil" asgard ship
