Orthanc's Creation Thread

Just have a few ropes to put up, but before that I want to show the sails, I know there's no way this few sails would move this thing (not that any amount of sails probably could:mischief: ), but I didn't want all the fun deck details totally obscured by canvas, so here's the rigging I've gone with:

Otherwise, it's almost animating time again.

"Look at the size of that thing!"
Someone guess the geeky movie reference. :D

Seriously tho - that thing is ****ing BIG!

I dont think it would sail I think it would sink with that amount of stone basicly there are pyramids build on the ship

Yes I am forsaking physics entirely on this one, going purely for 'does it look good?'.

I noticed. I think theres something missing in the central part of the ship I cant help that. I know your plan says theres nothing at the middle but I say it needs something there. and maybe small frontal sail and back sail. triangle shape bouth of them or maybe oars (you know the long wooden sticks that would make the ship move)
its just a sugestion

But for a ship this size the main sail would have to be even huge-er than the other sails.
Oars + sails is kinda strange. (unless the sails are hoisted)

Also for a ship this size, oars would be insane. To be realistic even the largest of oars would still look like toothpicks, this thing has three wooden Titanic-sized hulls. Yes sails are insane too, but sufficient oars would require giants, enourmous sails just requires a lot of knitting.

Here, let's have a look at the complete model, I felt it neccessary to put some rigging between the masts, which also fills some of that central void:

Well, it looks phenominal...I would suggest making the middle point on the Trimarand section, a bit higher than the outside two, but Im not sure that is in the style youve made here...

I cant wait to get this beast into my game...thanks again

those black strings look as they dont fit in to me.
well you could make many small oars and I could get you a picture of ship with oars and sails I see it often on voyage century.
Put some of those black strings to the front and delete those betwen fron and back sail (only those that are directly conecting to each other.
Maybe a nice figurehead would be aproprieate for ship of this size

I won't be adding oars to this, it's meant to be on par with the Trident, which is an all-sailed ocean-goer. I've changed the ropes up, but I can't add ropes in front of the fore-mast, because the furthest point ahead of the mast they can attach to (the bowsprits), isn't far away enough to prevent the ropes going through the sails because of the angle (yes in real life it'd work, but POV Ray doesn't have anything to make "object A stop object B from going through object A").

I considered a few things for figureheads or other bow decorations, but with three hulls I prefered having something simple on each one, detail via repetition, rather than a single complex figurehead on the main hull and two duller-looking secondary hulls.

Rendered without the drydock to save time:

Yes, he'd have to be, very very sneaky sir.

I did consider adding some jibs and the like, just not enough space at the bow though. I think I'll animate with what I've got now. See you on the waves!
