Orthanc's Creation Thread

I was also considering a less traditional design, I didn't put in (ah heck, I'll put it in simple terms) the sail at the back that swings side-to-side while you steer that's on all European vessels, I also haven't stuck to rope standards. My thoughts were I might put in a lot of smaller sails on the side like you suggested, but then once more the issue of hiding the hull details (and also giving the cannons a hard time getting a clear shot) came to mind, so I opted with just two large masts at the bow and stern going right down the middle. It also makes the ship look more related to the Mextli, which of course it's supposed to be.

Well here's how the run's looking anyways:

And now let us take a moment, for Orthanc to vent steam as he contains his bitterness towards his wireless connection. Said connection was responsible today for eliminating my internet entirely from 4pm to now.

I will be, very very happy, to get back to a physical connection. Which is occuring soon me-thinks.

EDIT: Yes, I see the line that appears at the topsail of the aft mast (back, top sail), have no clue why it's there, it's not in the original frames, it doesn't even show up in the storyboard, it only shows up in the actual FLIC, and only in this direction. Make-a no sense-a.

Yeah, my wireless tends to die occasionally too. And other times it's very very reliable.

Can't wait to see the thing unload some metal into a poor enemy ship. :D

Looks to me like this. See post 22 for how I got around this.

That thing's so sweet! Imagine a navy of these sailing against the Spanish armada! I believe it would make the whole war between Spain and the Aztecs (which in normal terms was not much of a war at all) much more interesting and not so one sided. If the Aztecs could defeat the Spaniards at their own game, the outcome would maybe be radically different.

Yeah it's all just rumours and theories;

:D

Yes, there's three attacks, and now you can sail the whole thing!:

Citlalpol Thread

Now for a Meso American Curragh! (ie: a life raft for the Citlalpol, or not even that...)

Well it doesn't have any moon symbols (unless you count the shape of the keel which you'll never really see), but it certainly is small, that Metzpil is ready to start sea trials, probably won't take long:

So it's a Meso-American Curragh, according to good ol' Wikipedia Curragh's were basically wooden frames with animal skins stretched over it. So Aztec designers in mind I figured they'd use jaguar skins, since they already use them as battle coats, and bones from human sacrifices to assist the wooden frame and show the enemy what was going to happen to them.

Well, as long as the enemy isn't in a bigger boat, which wouldn't be hard to do:mischief:

EDIT: w00t! Post: 1234

Well as expected it didn't take long to finish, the boat can be found here:

Metzpil Thread

So get rowing!:D

Yeah, so next is the Flying Dutchman (and yes I will be modelling it directly from the POC version, since we already have plenty of generic ghost ships), considering the details (and impending arrival of school) I expect this one to take a while... But you can look forward to diving animations and those painful triple guns at the bow whenever it does get finished!

and after duchman its Arsenal Gear cant wait for that one. Its something Im looking forward since I saw it on your to do list

Ahhhhhhhhhh! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

btw will the duchman sail like a normal ship or will it be under water and surfice only when in fight or when fortified
or will it sink only when fortified and sail as normal ship when moving?
