Orthanc's Creation Thread

Maybe, but as mentioned before, you're going to be waiting a bit on those.

Anywyas, here's the progress on the current boat, I've pretty much just got the rigging and two flags to put up and I can start animating. Now do you want both arrow and cannons attacks, cause currently this thing doesn't have cannons (none of the pictures I've seen show this with cannons)

Nice boat. It looks exactly like one of the Turkish galleys at Lepanto according to one of my books.

Alright, just putting the sounds together now. Again, a civilopedia entry would be nice, if it's not too much trouble.

Crap, I was too slow. It should have one huge cannon in the Bow.

Also, Corsair just means Pirate. the key word is Barbary, meaning northern coast of Africa.

Eh, I did put a cannon attack in there for you, but its from the 'cannons' at the sides. Here's its thread: Barbary Corsair Galley

So now onto the Warp Raider. Now one of three things is going to happen here, I'll either start and finish it today, or start today and finish tomorrow, or I'll start today, and then my NEW COMPUTER will arrive tomorrow and the unit will probably be finished by friday. If my computer arrives on Friday, obviously it won't effect the release of this unit. Can't wait to get it though, the only thing the current comp can do is make new units for Civ 3, it doesn't play Pirates or Civ 4 (both of which I have, Pirates I've had and not been able to play for OVER A YEAR now). It plays Civ 3, but NOT THE EDITOR  , and pretty much nothing else, not even older games that used to work on it work anymore.

Well enough whining, next boat!

Yes that'll help, a unit just isn't really complete without an accurate civilopedia entry :D

EDIT: Thanks, ok most of the modelling is done (it's not exactly a Ragnarok I'm making here;) ), I've added those exhaust pipes at the back as you requested LizardmenRule!, what do you think?

Ack, I dislike double posting, but I need to bring this thing back.

I'm starting work on the next boat, a Greek Hexakonteres, thing is I forget who requested it, so if you remeber please comment on what it is you're after with this thing. I'll start crafting the hull in the meanwhile. Back to the yard.

Yeah, the Skaven ships definately doesn't conform to any standards of design.

Anyways I've finally got some progress on the Hexakonteres, so the original requester should really post something so I can have a clue on how to proceed from here. Since this vessel is larger than the Tetrareme (which was previewed much earlier in this thread) I'm thinking it might get two catapults, maybe some ballista, though I'm not sure if the Greeks got Ballista's (as in giant crossbows) at this time (right after Alexander the Great)

So here's what I got:

I'd lighten the front of the ship abit, make it blend with the rest of the vessel.
The beak? Forgot its real name. Or the part where the "eye" is? Cos I think the part with the "eye" is supposed to be darker than the deck..

How do you do this so quickly?
... Dude, its Orthanc :)

Dude, he's modelling with pov-ray. And it's quite easy to modify your older work... :)

Depends on the complexity of the model, the Warp Raider took about 5 seconds to render one direction of a 12 frame run animation, the Ragnarok took about an hour.

Yeah, what part do you mean? The ram at the front or the brown wood at the front? The ram needs to stand out, since it's made of brass and the rest of the ship is made of wood, but lightening the wood texture would be a synch (I've got about 5 different brown wood textures to choose from, its as easy as changing bw2 to bw3 or something, like those are the actual texture names)
