To be honest, the extra helmet detail is hardly noticeable in the animations, but anyways the thing is done, though the server's down so I'll have to wait to upload it. The boat can be found here.

This brings me to my personally most anticipated unit, one I've been waiting, lets say, 5 YEARS to have in Civ 3, or any game really. My first biped unit, Metal Gear Ray, so I'm outta the Orthanc Shipyard for a little bit and setting up the Orthanc Factory for the first time. Most of this thing I've got a good idea of how to do, but once modelling's done I'll probably need your help for a walk cycle aaglo.

Oh and don't worry, I have more pictures to work from than I need.

Okay, you do know that I will now have to make Solid Snake to counter this guy, don't you ;)
 
Not too much progress, but I felt I had to show that this thing is in fact being made now.

As you can see, I'll be making it so that the mouth can open so that it can A) Spew blue exhaust in the fidget and victory animations B) Fire off that uber water-laser thing for AttackC

This will definately be my most intricate unit, the Ragnarok was easily the most complicated model-wise, but it had only three moving parts, this whole thing will move, so I'll have to set everything up just right.

alright, I'm about 50% there, just about to do the wings, which won't be very hard since they're symetrical so I only really have to make one. One preview shows the mouth closed, the other with it open.

I'm planning to do Rex sometime, but it'll be after I finish the current to-do list (as long as I don't get too many other requests ahead of it)

Thanks everyone, I'm making some serious progress today, here's da wings, which will have the only civ-colouring for the whole model (at least that's the plan).

You know what? I just realized that the Firaxis Guerilla looks almost exactly like Solid Snake.... So it looks like I don't have to make him after all.

Nice work on the unit thus far Orthanc.
 
Alright, modelling is done, luckily render time is at a quite low 10 seconds per frame, so any difficulties in animating will just be figuring out just HOW to animate this thing.

That said, guess it's time to get that info on biped walk cycles aaglo...

Anyways, here's a preview of da model.
