Orthanc's Creation Thread

Yeah, they are meant to be hairs. I can't bend them unless I make them sphere sweeps, which would increase rendering time about 10 fold, so I've tried rounding their ends off instead by widening their tips and adding a sphere at the end. I've switched the horns to bone color too, whoops, forgot the body spikes, I'll get on that:

Thanks everyone! Well got the arms done, so it's animating time again! Here's the completed model:

Sorry, couldn't resist trying out this pose!

You've got to make an alternate civpedia icon with the circle pose. :D That is so cool. I love the model you've made for this, looking forward to the anims.

Great work Orthanc

I think his legs are a little small, tho. I always think of Asian Dragons with slightly longers legs like this guy, with hairy elbows and larger claws -

One way or another this dragon rocks and I think you could use that second picture as a victory animation

How will the attack be? A ground-based attack or an aerial attack? Chinese dragons typically are depicted floating in the air or literally climbing clouds. :)

No. Orthanc said that this is an "Asian" dragon.

@Stormy: You should know by now that all my WIP previews are 256x256 sized :hammer:In-game size is undecided as of yet.

@rifleman: I lengthened the arms some, that picture you put up is one of my reference pictures already.

@HunterAnubis & Keroro: I'll see about using it as a victory, civilopedia will be easy to put in. Maybe for the victory he'll curl up, but have his head above his tail as opposed to swallowing it (as is the case in the classic ouroboros), then roar....

@Ogedei_the_Mad: I figure stat-wise this will be a ground unit, but his animations will be floating. Some fire-blowing, lightning spitting, and probably good ol' biting is in mind for attack options. He'll slither like a snake in the air for run, and just kinda float curled in some fanciful shape for default.

@Partizanac: As said, I'd love to do some Zelda dragons, 2 come to mind which would top the list, but alas, this is an Asian Dragon, though it could do well as a temporary Volvagia until I or someone else gets to him.

So which dragon it is? My niece keep asking me about it, "uncle was is the name of the Dragon?"... Please tell me, I need peace .

From the looks of it, it's a Shen-Long, a Chinese "spirit dragon" who is control of the weather. :D

If I'm not mistaken, this unit doesn't have five claws so it's not an Imperial dragon. ;)

The description of this unit is as follows:

A generic dragon based on Oriental ideas about the creature. It has three claws, like the Japanese dragons, cause I liked it better that way.

If you really need a name, Shen-Long is fine, but Wilbert is also as good as any.

Once my units are on your computer, the only thing I'd like is for people to not say they made the original graphics themselves (course I have absolutely ZERO resources to enforce this), otherwise you can do whatever you want with them, so call him whatever you want:D
