Paris is Burning (6 player FFA)

Me too. I expect zalta will too, though he may still be sleeping atm.

Awesome?

yeah, tab, you can host, or alistair if he's better ping to everyone. ...and you never know what kind of wars may cripple the rest of the civs in the world...you might still emerge from the ashes!

Yeah, my data block will resume on 23rd, so I was Playing offline. Too sad. Would you consider running two games at the same time, lol

um, nope...but if you want to be around in case we ever need a sub, that would be appreciated, and you might get a bit of MP experience in.

Peace reigns in the 2nd session, to turn 160 / 1000 AD. Too tired to write anymore atm.

We goin for Monday next?

Persia got advantage of peace deals and immediately revived Ecbana to west of peninsula. With 3 swordmen left, They captured a cs, making very happy Geona at far west of map. A barb camp was sitting south of them and they took advantage of barbs spawning in their territory to produce free influence and save :c5gold:.

They have built Chichen Itza before National College. They had waited for Taj but Roman took it before they could. No golden ages yet, they are still waiting for the big moment. They heard that a mighty golden age may occur somewhere in 1200 AD and will last some centuries. People are still praying for this happening.

''Stay calm fellow citizen, we are still prospering since the Clash of the Titans from ancient times. The Big Golden Age will give us eternity...don't give up my friends'' said the great Darius, sitting on his throne.

Great China built the Great Wall for guaranteed prosperity and Notre Dame for the happiness of our citizens. Our bright scientists have been busy, but it seems the rest of the world has copied our superior methods and have started challenging China as the center of world enlightenment.

After some small misunderstandings with the Aztecs regarding natural border lines, China has gradually expanded to fully encompass all the traditionally Chinese territories, including Dublin and Sydney, which have been made into Chinese protectorates. This strengthening of our national unity has impressed our friends at Cape Town, who have wisely decided to ally with us. We have been striving for peace with our neighbours, which has provided everyone with mutually beneficial relationships, and we hope for this peace to continue in the future. The current devlopment of the glorious Chinese nation warrants careful optimism, but the future is always unknown.

Onan,

If you are playing another one of these please let me know. Thinking of trying out civ5 now that they've had a year to iron out the bugs :)

Islandia! Long time, man!

Probably the easiest way to know when a new game is going to start is to keep tabs on this one, by bookmarking it and following it. Otherwise you're relying on me to remember this one post, in probably a few to several weeks time...let's just say reliability for that would be low.... I will try to keep you in mind, though, I still remember our Civ 4 epics with Willburn and...well, yeah, him....

Iroquois update to follow sometime this weekend, if we can coax our sages out of the forest to sit down at the computer for a little while.

The poor French - les misérables, one might say - have also heard rumors of the Persian Golden Age, but view it in quite a different light. Many are still leery of their past conflicts with the giant to their south, and despite many years of peace, the old hatreds and suspicions die hard. Last by nearly every metric, the French people live in squalor, and whispers of "revolution!" against their leaders are heard among the common folk. It will take a true hero to pull them out of such desperate straits.

Ahhh the Great Roman Empire once again sits atop the leaderboard. But for how long? China and its warmongering ways and Aztecs with their population growth/tech are scratching and clawing their way into first place in many of the demographics. What path the Roman Empire will take...even the gods do not know. During the last ~85 turns the use of a gs and ge provided the Roman Empire with Taj Mahal and a ga. It was a glorius time for the Roman people but China is now within range of nuking Rome. Our peace with the Aztecs have held and prosperity has been ringing in the streets. Upset feelings over not getting Notre Dame was removed when the Glory of Rome was used to build collesiums (which this Roman leader does not know how to spell) and circus' all over the land. Rome must face difficult challenges the next few turns on to which path will mighty Roman Empire must take. Probably the most difficult yet for this young Civ 5 leader. In regards to the other leaders France may still be counted on to be a contender if mighty wars break out. Persia it has been rumored has been spreading its cities like wildfire and stole the Itza from many of the higher civs. A single golden age may turn the tide for them after they have recently agreed to peace. The mighty Iroquis have been quiet the last age. Known only by whispers and small talk in taverns in Rome. The Aztecs are growing faster than mice on viagra. That wasn't a funny this is a serious situation! Their Jag longswordman ever on watch on the border with this peaceful nation. And the Chinese still growing and prospering behind their mighty Great Wall with Great Library, Notre Dame, and other Great Wonders I believe.

Thanks, but I don't want to add more complication to the game any more, just wish it finishes properly this time.

Anyway, all player's third person narratives are quite interesting. I wish the next game would have several hour advertising before kick-off so that I can grab a seat in time. Cheers :)

Usually they're advertised at the end of an old thread / linked to a new thread for days or even a week or more before they start. That this one got started semi-spontaneously and with a couple more players who've remained consistent is a bit of a fluke! A very happy one at that.

Here are the events I managed to note down.

China built Great Wall and Notre Dame, and annexed Dublin (and apparently Sydney, hadn't heard of that one).
Azteca built Stone Henge and the Colossus.
France built the Oracle, and annexed Florence.
Persia built Chichen Itza and Himeji Castle...annexations / CS alliance described above.
Iroquois built the Pyramids and Machu Picchu.
Rome built the Taj Mahal and the Porcelain Tower.

After the ancient war to save the French from mighty Persia, our people retreated to our forests and turned inward, educating our people and building our industry. We've come to realize we've overly cherished our forests, especially along our rivers, and have only begun clearing them for farmland near Onondaga, our backward capital, which, sadly, is smaller than twice-torched Paris. The pyramids have spurred on our workforce, to the point where we retired most of them, out of disuse. We would have sent them to work French lands, but they could pay nothing; now that they have some funds, they are too old and weak. Our second city of Osisinka meanwhile has grown quickly, to nearly double the size of the capital, rivalling nearby Shanghai, the populous Aztec cities, and many foreign capitals. At Grand River, a great engineer built the mountaintop town of Machu Picchu, boosting internal trade along our leafy avenues.

Constrained in territory by natural barriers and foreign borders, our empire is now the smallest in the world. We have traded our dyes with all but the distant Romans, receiving Persian gems, French silver, Chinese cotton, and Aztec whales in return, riches which have kept our people content. We look forward to exploring along the coasts from our homeland with the recently commissioned navy, to chart the scope of the world.

Always with our ears to the ground, our sages have heard a distant and faint, yet persistent, beating of the drums of war. Other nations' armies are growing, and our people have demanded we strengthen our borders, lest former or new enemies see our fruitful woods, fields, and women as ripe for the taking. And we have accepted a mission of French scientists to progress both our nations into the unknown future.

Will Persia's armies march on France again? Will war break out in the east, between the three mighty powers of China, Azteca, and glorious Rome? No one knows. But our scouts watch, and our warriors stand ready. And our scribes await news of the Aztecs, who so value the stories of the world, they seem not to have written their own history!

um, we on tomorrow? A little over 22 hours away!

The Azteca continue their social policies of love, peace and babymaking. With our glorious cities reaching tall toward the heavens, only to erect monuments and temples to the glory of the gods. As is it during these times however, we are locked between the two strongest armies on the earth. And we have noticed a harsh cooling of temperature between the Chinese and Roman civilizations.

As we attempt to stay away from the designs of these two countries, we look to our gods and culture to please them with our sacrifices. The new focus on social policies is with a peaceful aim. As we enjoy our time on this planet we dream of reaching for the stars to find an escape from the silly trivial issues of this world.

As of yet, no one has stepped out of the rest of the nations as our ally. So our army remains among the greatest in the world, with our highly skilled Jaguar's have learned the ways of the Longsword. Now, we have heard rumors of a ranged weapon using a powdery mix. We seek to master its ways.
