Passive-Agressive Only defence Domination

MOst licky population thin. We need to raise our population. Make workers and build darn special resources and farms. We really luck workers.

I also think it's population. We can plunder her lands and block the tiles maybe? At least we should cut her access to iron.
Our population needs to grow a lot now as our next targets will be a lot bigger then those two.
If Victoria capitulates diplomacy will get harder as we get a -2 with all other players, especially Alex will be a pain in the future.
Place some war-phants at his border to block any bad ideas he could have :)

We can't block Vicky's iron as London is founded on top of it. Also, she has longbows now so attacking cities some more wasn't going to work anyway. However, I pillaged all her improvements for cash and to decrease her population. She is still unwilling to submit. We have a great general sitting in Moscow, should probably add him as a specialist.

Engineering will be defensively useful but I couldn't get any good trades out of it, I sold it to Monty for 270 to fund CS research. Gave Roosevelt Metalcasting and CoL for compass.

I opened up borders with Saladin and Wang for trade routes.

I founded a city just southeast of Moscow to start culturally pressuring Alex, unfortunately we have lost out on the similar site SE of Yaroslavl. We should get another settler soon and start developing the cow/horse site in the middle of the empire. I focused on economy. 2 workers were trained and 2 more on the way.

I think we should be teching for liberalism and democracy. I have a bad feeling we'll lose out on sistine chapel to the AI.

Is Monty still at war with Vicky? It just occurred to me that if he's locked in war with her and neither side is growing/shrinking (since he can't cross our territory), Monty may be occupied for a long long time since he's not suffering any losses in his war.

If we're going to shrink Vicky's population, we should build a few triremes in Moscow to pillage her seafood and to keep her from working the sea tiles. That should shrink her population some.

Well, I really dislike our position.
I think Viky does not surrender because we lost to many units to her and do not have double power.
I move our stack away from her capital.
I hope she move her stack out and we can kill it on open.
Otherwize we need to build trebushets and try to tahe her on.
Please, Stop building stuped cottages, we need farm. Cities can not grow, can not work mines, we can not expand and faling technologically behind becaus eof thsi stuped cottages.
Please, no more cottages for a time been, farms/mines, grow. We need a settler to stickNorth of capital, near sea food. Many more workers.
Really development is nessesary. We need shields! Got GP, no luck for gs, settle it in capital.
Advice to build Chapel next in capital, under burocrasy with help of chops should not be to bad.
Otherwize, to make Viky capitulate kill her units on open or build bunch of Trebushets.

I do not know extractly, because I did not look on SDK, but from my expirience we need.
1) more then 2 times land and population.
2) more then 2 times power
3) persived to be winning the war (kill more power then lost).

I begin my move with a trap for the english forces - and they run into it as if they waited for a long time:

One round later - and after we destroyed some of her "attacking" troops - Victoria finally capitulates:

Now an era of peace and happiness, growth and wealth begins. At least you would think so - if only the neighbours were more friendly.
I spot greek troops near our borders and make emergency upgrades of the former moscowian garnision, begging the gold from Roosevelt. Our "english" army is marching night and day to reach the front, let's hope our city holds.
I leave a strong garrison in st. petersburg as i don't want to invite Montezuma, some day he will attack us anyhow.

Roosevelt discovers optics and we trade bureaucracy for it, we set him to rearch guilds while Victoria is allowed to go after music for us.

Our frontline holds - barely, but it holds. I decided not to whip moscow as the citizens of big cities are worth a lot more population and we can hold our own until our troops arrive.

All greek troops you see on this picture are killed within the next two rounds.

I end my turn here (2 turns after the screen), our england-army finally arrived at the front and our war-phants are capable of dealing with the greek knights. Alexander refuses to talk and i had a different idea anyhow. Every round i talked to Roosevelt and told him how great it would be if he would go and attack Pharsalos. The AI takes its time to move but i think he will come.
As the greek cities are quite some way from his heartland i think he will raze them.

Saladin discovers liberalism (first) and, being at war again, i doubt we can manage to build the sistine chapel anywhere.
We should research chemistry and gift it to our vassals :king:

We should build trebuchets as Alex will have muskets anytime soon, we bombard the defenses and kill the defenders while we wait for ol'Rose to march in and make some free space for our settlers.
Lets see how our small AIs battle the big one

I didn't play the full 15 turns as things were a bit challenging and i feel it is a good time to hand the game over to the next player, not that our empire is save again. I have 6 hours of sleep left until i have to go to work - but playing civ is more fun then sleeping anyhow ;)

Hmm. Not so much luck on my turn set. I fought the war defensively, as I wanted to avoid suffering too many unit losses before we could field an army offensively against Alex. We finished education, and I've set research for nationalism (since liberalism is gone). Alex hasn't made any gains against us since the initial incursion, and I pillaged some of the towns around Pharsalos.

The lack of luck was that Roosevelt won't move his army :( They're just sitting in his territory. We have a big enough army to torch Alex's border cities but I don't want to move them out until Roosevelt has shown some movement. Do we have to threaten the cities before Roosevelt will "take advantage" of the situation?

Vicky got music so I traded it for some backwards tech. Then I noticed that Vicky is Monty's worst enemy and we picked up a -1. The only tech Vicky can research that we don't have is divine right so I set her to research that - do we want to take the negative modifiers from Monty by gifting Vicky some old techs so that she can research something useful? Roosevelt is a few turns out from guilds, but I don't think he has horses.

Question, did we provided Roosevelt with usefull strategic resource we have in abudance, like cooper for example?

I don't remember... I saw elephants and longbows in his stack so I just left him with those. I don't recall if he had metal-based units in his stack.

One should "remind" the AI every turn to attack Pharsalos and it can take some time until he moves, we can build up trebs and phants. Trebs do quite well against muskets and IF Roose comes along we want to present him some nice cities to raze. (Don't forget to ask him about the money :) )

We should provide him with metal. And as i stated before i think it would be better to go gunpoweder -> chemistry. Or do you think we could beat saladin (who seems to be the builder type) to the Taj?

Im my expirience we should just gift him 2 maces. I believe he will send them to town we asked to attack. I do not think tell him every turn is a good idea. It might be a bad idea.

He will move 2 maces to city and attack it when he rich it. At that moment this city should have 1 defender and no cultural defence, then he will take it.

In my expirience he will do that, but if he meat any opposite units alone the way he will attack them, so we need to keep them out of way.

Or we could go for military tradition. Can't load the game right now and not sure what state our economy is in.

Is the plan is to make Roosevelt capture the cities then we culture flip them?

Saladin had not gone after nationalism yet. I was going towards it for drafting, and was going to get gunpowder after that. If we gift tech to Vicky (incurring penalty from Monty) and Roos, we can probably get them to research gunpowder for us.

Gifting maces sounds like a good idea. I think we should prepare a settler or two when Roos arrives at the Greek border in case he razes the cities. Can you culture flip a vassal's cities? I know you can't be cultured flip by your vassal but I've never had the chance to try the opposite.

Well, in the game acid04 we had a vassal who kept putting one of our cities into revolt (it was originally captured from him so flipping was out of the question.) Not sure how it works with a 3rd party city though.

if Roose razes the cities we can settle ourselves, if he captures them the area counts 50% towards domination, not that bad.

I don't think drafting is a very good idea as we need to hold our pop as high as possible, at least if i grok the capitulation thingie correct.
In my opinion we should try to get chemistry online asap, get a technological advantage and go crush Alex until he capitulates due to the american victories :)
