* Patch ReadMe: What's changed in this version?

Please note that if you previously installed the v1.16f patch, you may be asked to overwrite some read-only files when installing the v1.17f patch. This is normal and you should select "Yes to All" when prompted to do so.

Are there any special instructions with this one? (For example, with 1.16, we were told to run install twice.)

It is in New Zealand.

LOL! Damn my Verizon DSL connection, It's makes your 56k line look like a T3 connection this time of day.

at least your verizon dsl doesn't disconnect on you with 5MB of the file downloaded...Grrrrrrrrrrrr

I'm getting an error whenever I tried and load a my modified .bic file in...I get version 3.00 is no longer supported. I've only got the .bic file that came with the patch to work...I experimented and changed just one thing in the .bic that came with the new patch and got an error as well

You da man Firaxis :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

But, it's Valentines day and if I play the new patch tonight :( :( :(

It'll be curtains for me for a loooonnnnngggg time

PaulNAdhe,

Same problem here, don't know who is going to be more unhappy, my wife or me. Strongly suspect me :( .

I already told her this weekend a new patch would be out. Her reply was- at least it is after Valentines day.

Glad to see the patch out. The readme file corrections look great.

I'm playing my first game with today's new patch. Comments:

You still can rush build in despotism, but you can't make the malcontents the ones that die.

The fast unit retreat seems to be set pretty low - my horsemen will defend against an attacking archer beyond critical (red) about 3/4 of the time - maybe this balances game play, but I wish I could train my troops better:

"Hey cavalry, don't sit there and take on an assault by slow troops - run away and hit their flanks next turn"

It makes me think this would be a cool thing to customize - I'd have my fast troops retreat whenever they are initially attacked unless they are fortified or in a city.

Did the readme mention anything on AI tech negotiations? They seem to be demanding more.

All in all, I am using the new features I remember and the strategic adjustment doesn't seem as much as for the last patch.

EDIT: DELETED POST

D'oh! Never mind.

Jeff Morris just posted that the wrong editor was in the download.

They are fixing it now. Thanks anyway.

Had to have a laugh, (in sympathy of course, - well, ahh, a chuckle then...).

All the way from the original Civ, I have had 'problems/issues' with 3 different (long term) girlfriends not understanding that it is 'not just a game'.

Now recently single, I'm loving the situation (okay, for the time being etc). Great timing all in all..... :crazyeyes

I'll patch up as soon as I finish the current game. The end game is just soooooo slow and it's taking days, but I'm trying for a high score...... (Plus I have a habbit in life for doing well, but not following through to the end.)

Cheers to all
Martin

OMIGOD!!! IS this another get the second version of the patch not the first like in 1.16??? IS the right editor in there NOW 6:34 PM Central time Texas USA????

AHHEEE!!! MR. Bill!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stack movement is great, but we still do not have stack fortifying or sentry, or skip turn... pressing F one hundred times is not my idea of fun. Also it would be nice to include these commands as icons along with the existing commands. As well when you goto move the stack it will only move the currently selected unit's type. All units on that square should move together at the speed of the slowest unit and have an option both move all units in stack or just all units of same type. I meen come on , if you put stack movement in put it in all the way people!

So there's this patch that has some really nice features. I wish I could use them, but the patch only works of you use the .bic that comes with the game. I like to modify my rules, now I can't. I don't like tyrannic patches, no matter whether the tyranny is intentional or not.

Argh!!!!!!

JFW3rd, the updated editor should allow you to edit the rules. There is a link to the editor in the first post of this thread and in the Updated Editor thread.
