My computer recently had its hard drive crash, and now that its repaired, I cannot find any civ patch besides 1.29f, when I install this Patch, I attempt to start the game and it says something like please insert disk, even though its already in, any idea what to do, I'm thinking I need the older patches first, but cannot find them.

Bjorlo - What?

Weasel op - 1.29f crashes my game

Rob - I only have civ 3 vanilla on my computer, and yes, its the proper civ 3 vanilla disk.

Bjorlo - What?
Chicken Butt?

I was just saying that on my last PC crash I had to re-install everything. Part of the was Civ3. I am lucky and have all 3 expansions.
But, you had problems with 1.29f and were wondering if you needed the other (older) patches. I was saying I never installed those other patches, implying that the source of your problems was not the patch version but lay else where.

Well, I only have the vanilla civ 3 installed. and when I first reinstalled the game I updated the game, and it didnt work. are you trying to tell me to add C3C and or PTW onto my computer, then add 1.29f to civ 3 vanilla?

No, I am not saying that.

I am saying I only installed the original v1.00 CD and then the patch and then played the game.

In my case the last time was the original game and the add ons. But, I have previously installed Civ3 vanilla and only the final patch... or at least I think I have (it has been a few years and many beers)

I have installed the original game, made no modifications to it, try to play, then it tells me to insert correct disk, when the disk inside is the correct one.

In other words, you did no apply the patch? You just tried to install and play?

Is this the same PC which had Civ3 installed on it before?

Is this the same CD you could play on before, or a backup of it? Because you know most backup CDs do not work.

Is there more than one optical drive in your system? Could the copy protection be looking at a CD or DVD in another drive?

I can't really help you much since this is not a problem I have had.
