Patch side effect - turns auto ending??

Yes i olso had this if you mean this :

if you end you're turn it says waiting for other players But it isnt loading because you have to move a unit (instead of showing you wich unit you have to move)

So you could wait for hours because you must move you're unit...

Before the patch it will say a unit needs orders and you move the unit and then you can end turn easy because sometimes you dont know which unit it means... Really anoying with turn timers...

Is that what you mean?

Note: This olso happened to me at hotseat

This is from the Korea scenario. It's at the end of the turn; for me, clicking 'end turn' goes to 'please wait' and I have to use the command to select the next unit and tell it to do something in order to progress.

NB there's something else wrong with this save: this is loaded from an autosave in my game last night, where I've made a couple of turns in order to demonstrate the 'please wait' problem, but note that in this save all my cities are at their food limit and I have 30 unhappiness. In the actual game my cities were nowhere near that large, and happiness never dropped to -10 or below. The turn before I'd just taken a city, and the act of saving and reloading in order to confirm the bug caused that one to immediately grow to the max size supported by the food available, just like all the rest.

I am having the exact same problem. It is affecting every turn where I click next turn without exhausting movements of all units.

Another problem, if you found a city, with autoturn on, and its your last move, you are unable to set its production, until the next turn

Yup, this happened to me yesterday. Very annoying to lose a turn of production because the game has decided for me that my turn is over.

User should ALWAYS declare when his/her turn is over by clicking Next Turn; none of this automatic bull.

I'm having the same problem but my worker also gets hung up on the last turn constructing a quarry and just remains there every turn it says 1 turn left.

I have to click on the worker and then click construct quarry again on the last turn to get the worker to complete. Ruined my game with Mongolia.

Anyone else having worker issues getting hung up on the last turn to complete building a quarry or other improvement?

Is anyone else finding that it gets stuck on 'please wait' rather than switching to 'a unit needs orders', and clicking the button doesn't do anything? It took me ages to figure out what was going on.

I can confirm this bug. If there's a unit following auto-move orders which has movement points left at the end of a turn, he'll go as far as he's been ordered to go (or as far as he can) when you click "End Turn" as usual. In the past, it used to switch from "Please Wait" to "A Unit Needs Orders" which you could click to find the unit that needs additional orders.

What it does now is sits there and says "Please Wait" and it'll stay there until the Second Coming of our Holy Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (in other words, forever) or until you search the map to find a unit that needs something. You can also save and reload the game, then it'll say "A Unit Needs Orders" again and let you move him.

Another thing that pissed me off is when you promote Caravel to Destroyer, you would actually LOSE *2* visibility range! It drops from like 5 to 2. That's a crock, so I fixed this myself by editing the file called:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization v\Assets\Gameplay\XML\Units\CIV5Units.xml

You'll find a line of text in there that looks like this:

Code:
		<Row>
			<UnitType>UNIT_DESTROYER</UnitType>
			<PromotionType>PROMOTION_EXTRA_SIGHT_III</PromotionType>
		</Row>

It'll be commented out with something like <!-- at the beginning and --> at the end; delete these comments. Viola, fixed. Destroyers now behave like they're supposed to.

Enjoy!

I've noticed the workers stop what they're doing and just chill if they can see an enemy nearby. This actually gives you a chance to move them to safety (like, into a city) or to otherwise deal with the fact that you're about to lose a worker to capture if you DON'T do something. It could be a shrimp boat at sea; the worker doesn't care. It stops working and just sits there. I've learned to be aware of that and I habitually just reissue orders to workers all the time to keep those hammers going when there's bad guys near the borders but that can't reach the worker.

I'm going to add support to this. Its very noticeable early on when you have units automated and an enemy comes in range of one of your cities. Before it would wait and give you an opportunity to select the target and fire at the enemy, now it just keeps on truckin letting the barb run amok in your backyard. You don't even seem to be able to click and activate a garrisoned unit.

In certain circumstances I am losing valuable movement orders due to this bug.

For Example:

Worker moves to improve a tile. He moves just far enough to reveal a Barb camp.
Warrior is Garrisoned in city....2 tiles away.

I am not able to move my Warrior to save my Worker's ass. Worker has the option to move one tile away or work the tile.

When I choose one...the game forces an autoturn and will NOT let me move my Warrior out of the city to cover worker.

Is anyone else having this problem?

The "Please Wait" bug has just been addressed via Hot-Fix. Thanks for everyone's patience!

The "Please Wait" bug has been fixed, but the original topic of this post hasn't been fixed!! The turn still auto ends after you move all units that need to be moved. And you can't move other units that didn't still need orders!

So what actually changed? Just that the message no longer says "Please wait..." but the game otherwise functions the same way?

Correct. Instead of saying, "Pease Wait" or "Waiting for Other Players" ir now says, "Unit Needs Orders" or whatever.

And in this case "the same way" means that once you've ended your turn and there are units that still needed orders, you can only give those units orders and once you've done so it automagically ends your turn without waiting for you possibly update other orders to units or to manually end your turn again.

I'm lost for words.

So the bug (or issue if Firaxis considers this correct program behaviour) is alive and well. Just a trivial change has been made to better mask it.

It seems what it should do is
Have a "Autounit" button that makes all automated units carry out their orders (and brings you to units that are threatened/open)
and then either
1. Prevent you from ending your turn until all units have orders
OR
2. Just let those units go without orders

They could have also programmed it like Civ 4. Have the units automove during the turn instead of after the turn.

Yes, Ranos. Because automated units move after the turn, sometimes you can't move on tiles occupied by these automated units. It needs to be changed.
