PBEM - any candidate ?

Perhaps Compact Enforced if your all worried about the AC.

Acheron is a meh for me. Usually doesn't effect the game much unless he steals a city plot right next to you, or the barbs take your capital and he moves in. We could play with Barbarian World on, meaning Acheron would get one of those pre-made cities and not steal from somebody else.

You pose a good point there Old_Lion.
Therefore I change my mind.
Please do not do anything to limit the AC.

Also, I like having archeron around but there is the danger of the spawn.

So yes, a public vote would be the best. I vote to have him.

Also, I will really need detailed instructions how to join the game.
And by Detailed I quite literally mean Step by Step.

PPQ purple :
For the step by step, we'll give explanation later.
I still have to figure out how it works myself. Should be easy.

What is certain is that we need to get a valid email adress VERY soon.

Archeron : 3 pro, 2 neutral. he is in.
Lascivious : no reaction : he is out.

Now : starting the game, then updating the first post and then sending the game to the next player.

Ok, just PM me and I shall send you my Email.

I started the game and send it to azhral.
I think it should be easy :
place the saved game in ~\My Games\Beyond the Sword\Saves\pbem\Battle_for_Erebus
start the game, load the mod.
select multiplayer
then play by email
select the saved game in the same directory

play

press end turn => the game is saved.

at the end of first turn, rename the saved game by replacing 0001 by 0000

send to the next player.

Hope it's simple enough.

My first start was great but without flavor. I restarted.
If you have a flavorless start, let me know, we'll restart.
After that, no mercy.

my initial start :
without flavor

Old_Lion, what's wrong with desert elves?

How are we getting the necessary e-mail addresses to forward the game?

Elves need trees ! Can't live without.

The email adresses were all in the text of the mail accompanying the game.
If you want to add funny parametres to automate things in game exchange, I think you can do it later.

Damn that would be an awesome start for the Malakim.

And I'm 'Bon', awesome.

Anywho, I can play in around 6 hours when I get home from work. Just eating my lunch now.

Who am I sending to when I'm done?

It's wroten in the mail : bosun. and you have is adress.

I could have played the desert start with the elves. With nature magic, it would have made a monster city.

They can, but generally don't want to. At least 2 elves live among the Malakim though. Varn is a Once Elf, so he was raised in the Underworld and Shadowed Vale away from trees and so doesn't really miss them. Talia on the other hand is Ljosalfar, and often misses the forest. She has however come to find the tenacious life that survives in the Oases in the desert to be perhaps even more precious than the woods though.

You'd want to get Water Mana, Priests of Leaves and either Archmages or Druids as soon as possible. As Ljos, all of those are perfectly reasonable and worthwhile beelines. Still, you'd only get the massive elven economy in the late game, and I don't even think you can have Trees and Floodplains on the same tile...

I can't load the game. Just pops up with an error saying "The save file you have selected is protected to ensure that the assets in your mod folder have not been changed". Considering I'm loading the game with a straight pure Patch M install (no changes at all) for Multiplayer, its kinda weird...

After a bit of research it turns out the issue is related to file systems, switching between NTFS and FAT32, or the changes to the Civ4 DLL done by Warlords and/or BTS. Not setting an admin password at game creation seems to be the fix...

I think it is conceivable for a few individuals to make those choices.
But I find it hard to imagine elves, especially Svartalfar, to build a major city in a sunbathed, rocky landscape. Maybe later when they have recovered the capacity to grow trees and forest, but not in the displayed situation.

No, I have no FAT32 drives, all NTFS. Might I suggest starting a new game, and then entering nothing when it asks for an admin password. We'll see what happens. I'll stay up for a bit longer so everybody else can have a turn :P Hanging around in #Erebus too.

No #erebus for me, and I can't play until tonight.

I suggest you start a new game, with the same settings. (maybe no admin passwd, I don't know what it implies - what does being admin allow to do ?)
You send it in the same order (to bosun777, I think)
I'll then be the last to play rather than the first.

If this does not work, we'll have to try something else.

Ok, have done. I got a pretty average start but right next to the bals. Tossed in two AI as well. Calabim are Flauros and Bals are Keelyn (figured they were the preferred leaders). Email sent to Cassiel.

I am crashing to desktop as soon as I load the game. There are two popups but it crashes too fast for me to read. I am also straight patch m, no other mods. Not sure what to do. Any ideas?

Is this the point where the save file needs to be renamed? If we have to start over again, I would prefer Perpentach for the Balseraphs.
