PBEM - Dark Ages Always War

Well that is a lot of info. Thanks, Ruff.
But we still have a problem. The reason I've been switching back and forth is because BtS wouldn't run unless I had the Vanilla BtS dll in it's place. I'll confirm that this is still the case a little later today (when I get a chance).

Update: I appear to be good to go. Instead of speculating why I'm just going to pretend it has to do with 3.13 and 3.17 updates (for me this problem started prior to 3.17).

Anywho, let's rock 'n role. I'm still in pack mode, and will be quite busy for awhile, but should be able to play my turns/etc.

Just one thing ( in case of you don't know me, I'm the guy that volunteered to be the map maker ):

- I can change the color of the civs in the WB file, so choosing the civs by color is not needed. If you want to change the civs or pick favourite style colors, please tell me

- May I suggest a hub map? :D Kidding... or not

P.S What wrap do you want? Flat, Cylindrical or toroidal?

there is no world wrap for this map. Its teambattleground, vanilla Civ4, left v Right.

If you can change the colors, then lets do England v France. That should be fun. I don't care which team I am on - rolo can decide.

BtS version has wrap:

And as WB are equal to vanilla, warlords and BtS except for the extension ,I can do the map in BtS WB and load it in Vanilla later. In fact most of the tasks you gave me are done better in notepad than in any WB :D

nah - the vanilla version is fine. Feel free to follow the recipe in either WB of notepad :D.

Thanks for taking the time to be our mapper, Rolo!

When I get the start, I will be forcing an End of Turn and sending the save on to the other team so that they can discuss their land holdings. However, they should not play from that version as Karhu and I will be sharing information and discussing city placement, tactics, etc. After that discussion, I will be playing my turn for real and sending the game forward.

Now I'm getting confused about the dll issue.

I also have both Vanila 1.74 and BtS "improved" 3.17 versions of the original dll and I have to swap dlls to suit the game I'm playing at the time ... I'm fine with this as I knew the situation at the time when I joined the games.

What is confusing me is Mitch ... I already knew he doesn't own BtS so its vanila for him. But in the 2 Civs Part Deux game which is vanila, I have to use the BtS 3.17 version of the dll to get the game to run. If Mitch doesn't have this dll, then surely he couldn't run the save ???

Am I in that game? I think I am and I use the vanilla DLL. Are you sure you are using the BtS verison? He could have d/l a copy of the BtS modified version - it is only 3.6Mb.

Nothing. A peak = mountain - the terrain that you cannot cross. A hill is something that you can mine.

That is why I was confused. In your message to the map maker, you said to change all peaks to mountains... I assume you meant to change all peaks/mountains to hills.

I have to switch .dll files for several games that I'm in. I'm not sure why, I just do it...:mischief:

Ok, I'll try to send you the save tonight
Great - thx for helping us out rolo. I am pretty sure that there will be team threads discussing this game so you can get some feedback about how much we hate the map maker (:D).

BTW - my email is ruff_hi at yahoo dot com.

Mr Ruff, check your email :p
woo hoo - runs over to yahoo ... yay, we can get this game ... oh ... oh ... no email. Sniff. Waiting, waiting, waiting ...

did you get the email address correct?

well - that is me. Can you PM it to me please.

arrrg - we have a problem. Rolo - you started this game with the BtS version of the vanilla DLL. Everyone will be playing with the original vanilla DLL. Can you restart it please?
