PBEM game "Praetorian"

I'm in. Please send the save and password.

EDIT: My email is gbno1fan AT gmail DOT com.

Hi! Good to see you again. :)

Are you willing to step in even if Chinetter chooses not to come back? Either way, I'll get you the save and password ASAP.

EriktheCelt is in, and I've sent him the save and the password.

Kake, please check the first post in this thread for theCelt's email :)

EDIT: Gb! I'm so Sorry, I didn't see your post up there above Eriks :(
Well, if anything else goes wrong, I'll be sure and invite you first

Unless you want to start up a new one ;)?

That's fine. I have a PBEM going already.

Good luck to all in this one.

Turn 17 started :)

@EriktheCelt: If you change the password on your save, please tell me the new one in case we need a replacement. Otherwise I'll assume it's the same as Chinetter's. Thanks!

turn 17 played and sent.

I may be away for a few days in a bit, is there any way we can skip past my turn?

There's no way to skip past a player.

We have 2 options:
put the game on hold till Boc4j gets back;
find a temporary replacement

I can see if Gbno1fan is up for filling in for a little bit. How long do you anticipate being gone?

i don't think I'll be gone for that long, 2-3days tops.
i can stack up all of my moves to cover me, not really sure whether someone would want to take on a civ for a few turns of pressing enter...

turn 18 played and sent :)

If Boc is only gone for 2 or 3 days, then I don't think we should call in a pinch-hitter. Gb's a friend of mine from the civ3 multi-team game, and we're on the same team in the civ4 multiteam game* as well. I'd rather 'use' his offer of assistance if one of us has to take a prolonged absence. If he plays Boc's save for a turn or two (which is the most I imagine we'll accomplish in 2 or 3 days) then he may feel less able to step in for someone else's game should the need arise.

In that same vein, it seems likely that my girlfriend will be taking "our" computer with her on a business travel dealy for about a week. Hopefully I'll be able to play from my work computer, but I may ask one of the guys I work with to step in for me for that week. I'll let you all know more as I find out. In any case, my lack of home compy won't hold up the game.

*These two games have taught me more about the game than I ever thought was possible. If you enjoy playing civ4 or civ3, you should think about signing up. There's not nearly as much time commitment as a regular pbem, as you just offer your opinion on what actions the turnplayer should execute when the save comes around. Plus, playing against 4 other teams of the best civ4 and civ3 players around is exciting in itself!!

I agree with Peter. No need to subs if someone is gone only few days.
I'll be away week 11 and a weekend before that(8-9 days). I ask if my bro would sub for me(if thats okay).

ed. Oh and i made my moves, and sent file fwd.

Of course it's okay! If you can line up your own sub, that's great :)

Just post here to let us know, and make sure that the sub knows who to email the save to.

Turn 18 started!

2 in one day, oh my ;)

MTDG is Multi team demo(cracy) game. It is very similar to a Succession Game, but there are no Ai's. Basically, it's a PBEM with 5 human civs, no AI's. Each civ is operated by a team of players, ranging from just a few people to dozens. There is one person who plays the save, and posts screenshots and writes up a detailed report of the events and actiosn taken on that turn. Then the team talks about what to do for the next turn. That's where I've learned most of what I know - the discussion and debate that goes on. It's really great because you're all playing against humans. No AI at all, except for barbs. We average about 2 turns per week. Not bad, considering there are over 120 people from all over the world spread out among 5 teams!

It's all contained inside the Demo game forum, for some inexplicable reason. But I would say that if you're curious, just join a team. There's no penalty for never participating, but at least you can see your team's private forum. That's where all the good stuff is. The main MTDG forum is pretty stark. But the team I'm on, Epsilon Team!, has produced some news broadcasts that you might find interesting :)

EDIT: There are many SG players involved with the mtdg. If one format appeals to you, the other probably as well.
