Waterloo
When GUARD troops entered this ancient Incan city, they were greeted with tremendous rejoicing. Seemingly the entire populace turned out to welcome the tidy column of Greek soldiers and tanks. People were hanging out of their windows, crowded onto balconies, and lining the picturesque cobblestone streets of this vacation destination. Rag-tag banners were seen everywhere, with such nationalistic phrases as 'Death to Canukistan', 'Welcome, Greeks!', 'Hang the Celt', and 'Incas Free Forever'. But around it all, the pall of seige was evident.

Greek forces had initially scoured the hills around Waterloo searching for the rumored concentration camps said to have been set up at the beginning of the Canuki-English war. In order to prevent Canukistan from making matters worse, the GUARD systematically denied access to these mineral-rich hills and grassy plains. The populace in the city was hit hard, but official reports note only a modest rise in the death rate.

There were several bombing sorties before the attack, but because the Canuki forces were already so depleted, the raids thankfully spared the city proper. When the ground forces started to move in, the token resistance was quelled in about 2 hours - much better than the military spokesmen had led the press to believe.

1848 sent.

The Chinese president congratulates the Greek forces for their humane liberation of Waterloo. We would not be so kind ourselves...

 it's not me.

I sent 1848 to DNK.
DNK sent it to Twistlok I see.
Did you get it from him?

I haven't seen the 1850 save yet. Been wondering what happened to it myself.

EDIT: Maybe you got confused because I beat you to the GPS on turn 1848 by 2 minutes? :dunno:

Yes, I was indeed confused. I thought that DNK emailed things to you :crazyeye:

I'll give Twistlok a call - he hasn't played our other saves in over a day. That's very odd for him :shifty:

I resent it in case I did my usual "reply to thread before actually sending save and then forgetting to send save" thing.

Yipes! I forgot I had the save. Sorry everyone

The Beijing Times
April 11th, 1852

General Kong Wei, leader of the Chinese Armed Forces (CAF), today made a statement, declaring the conquest of Hamilton. "We are happy to announce the taking of Hamilton by the first and second brigades of the First Armored Division. Heavy air casualties resulted, with the loss of the 202nd Bomb Brigade, also known as the 'Fighting Houseflies'. No ground casualties were reported on our side, though." Ironically, the 1st Air Cavalry division, after years of preparation and staging, did not take part in the assault, still recovering from the battle for Regina.

General Kong also announced the start of a new modernization program that the armed forces were to begin undergoing. "We are beginning to prepare for the implementation of the MCS - The Modern Combat System. After years of testing in the field and research at home, we have discovered new advances which will catapult our forces into the 20th century. We cannot give specifics just yet, but it will be a major overhaul of all our machinery, so we can compete even more effectively in the coming battles and further minimize Chinese casualties," he stated in a joint press conference with LTG Er Wen, the new head of domestic production.

Inside sources within the Ministry of Offense were equally shy to disclose information, but did say that it would give huge increases to current fighting forces.

Many Beijing analysts believe Gen. Kong's words were carefully chosen, in an attempt to assuage growing public concern over the course of the war. "I'm fed up with all this fighting... fighting Canuckis, dying Chinese. Why are we still over there? They have paid, as far as I'm concerned. I hold no grudges against them anymore," one commenter said, while another chimed in, "we have seen enough of blood. This generation has seen nothing but, decades have passed now. I am tired of my children being forever away from home."

Pan Guo!, which has been growing in popularity steadily in the past few years, issued statements calling the new federal "Arts and Recreation" agency "a sham. A weak attempt at calming the nerves of the masses with cheap entertainment and tricks." This new program, they claim, has taken up nearly 20% of the federal budget, "a sign of how desperate they are becoming." Still, it appears to be working, as public demonstrations have all but ceased.

Still, there have been rumblings of massive discontent in recent years, and inside the capital, talk has been heard of "alternative governing approaches," with the failure of the new national park and jail systems to calm anti-war sentiment.

With Operation Flying Tiger and Operation Croissanwhich now completed, everyone is waiting to see what the next move will be, and how the MCS will handle on the battlefield.

Said recently-elected President Ma Bao, "these next few years will prove to be a major evolution in Chinese warfare."

1854 started :)

The greeks continued to pummel 'Poland' last year, sacking another city and eliminating their sole source of Rice. Polish cities are advised to not grow larger than size 9, or else starvation and riots will ensue.

1854 - GPS to DNK.

Any polish refugees will be welcome in the W_Empire. :salute:

Aid stations are being setup along the border, and some of our finest musicians are composing songs to show how much they care about the human tragedy unfolding in the orange lands. ;) :band:
