PBEM game "Praetorian"

1866 - GPS to DNK.

1866 AD - the year the world bid farewell to Canukistan.
With the capture of Guelph, it became official... all captured Canuks will be offered the chance for full citizenship in the W_Empire... If I could just get them to stop rioting long enough to listen to me...

@Twistlok... Thank you so much for playing this to the end. You kept the fun very much alive for the rest of us. I know it couldn't have been real great playing a game where the other civs already had an Alliance to eliminate you. But you soldiered on admirably and quickly. I, for one, greatly appreciate it.
So thanks again. :hatsoff:

And in case you're curious, here's the treaty that was your undoing...
Triumvirate Alliance

An agreement between DNK, Peter Grimes, and General_W.
Whereby it is recognized that Erik is poised to run away with this game if not stopped.
Whereby it is recognized that it is in our mutual self interest to divide up Erik's land among ourselves.

Article 1: Non-Aggression
It is hereby agreed that we will not attack each other or provide aid,
in any form, to anyone fighting any member of the alliance.

Article 2: Isolation of Erik
It is hereby agreed that we will not aid Erik in anyway. No trading or
gifting technology, no financial aid, no information about alliance
plans, and no military support in any form.

Article 3: War on Erik
It is hereby agreed that on turn 1770 (or some mutually agreed upon
later date) General_W and DNK will launch an attack on Erik. General_W
is assigned the Middle and Northern territory for capture – including
the more heavily defended lands around Erik's capital. DNK is assigned
the southern end of Erik's land.
Peter will not participate directly in combat, but will supply units
and gold aid to DNK.

Article 4: Spoils of War
It is hereby agreed that once Erik is eliminated his land will be
divided up as follows:
To Peter: The cities of Waterloo, Charlottetown, and Quebec City.
To DNK: Montreal, Edmonton, Regina, Victoria, Halifax, Calgary,
Moscow, Hamilton, and Toronto.
To General_W: Winnipeg, Ottawa, Vancouver (and if not razed: towns in
the tundra north of that)
General_W also pledges not to accept any cultural conversions of
cities promised to his allies for at least 25 turns after gifting them
away to allow time for rebuilding culture.

Article 5: Technology Cooperation
It is hereby agreed that we will all cooperate on technology in a
generous fashion with eachother. The alliance will cooperate to ensure
we acquire and maintain a tech lead over Erik. Emphasis will be placed
on getting to Tanks & Artillery. Secondary goals are Gunships and
Bombers.

Article 6: End of the Alliance
The military side of this alliance will end with the elimination of
Erik and the distribution of his cities according to the agreement.
However, it is hereby agreed that the non-aggression (article 1) part
of this alliance will remain in-force for a minimum of 20 turns after
Erik is defeated.
It is also hereby agreed that it is the intention of the alliance
parties to compete in a gentlemen's space race from here on out.

Signed:
X: General_W, 1685 AD.
X: DNK, 1700 AD.

1868 started :)

As General_W so eloquently put it, Three Cheers for Twistlok

This game would have likely died had he not had the courage to continue on in the face of insurmountable odds. It's one of the signs of a great player. :salute:

Yes, thanks Twistlok. It was an impossible situation, but it really helped the game along having a human to beat up on :)

1870 started. :)

Is anyone else experiencing tremendous slowdown during game-play? I had to restart my computer several times while playing the save, but it didn't really solve the problem. Everything was really 'choppy': I'd try to move the cursor, but I could only move it on 3 of every 4 'beats' of the hissing background noise.

Perhaps this is something unique to MacBooks in the late game, after a civ has produced upwards of 12 ICBMS? I just can't imagine what else it could be? ;)

What, you only have 12 ICBMs? I believe the game limit is 50, and I've already reached it. Sorry, my bad.

Seriously, though, no problems here. The game slows a bit, but nothing that bad.

Sorry Peter - no slowdowns for me or my 100 Nukes (I've got a patch that allows twice the limit ;) )

You might want to try a virus sweep?

Peter get a real computer and that wont happen.

Thanks for letting me play folks. The outcome would have been similar if I was in from the start I am sure. That agreement is a thing of beuty I will go over it tomorow more so I know if everyone stuck to it in the various treaties I offered :-) I will never tell naturally.

Keep me in mind for future games and keep in mind that I will always betray Peter for a bag of copper.

I didn't get the save, Peter.
Can you resend?

Thanks! :)

The Chinese have decided to do a little recon work to their west. They believe there might be people living over there, and wanted to be sure they weren't werewolves or something, so we're going with gunships to be safe.

Don't be silly, Peter. GW has silver deposits in his territory, and has his werewolf population under control. But I don't see any silver in Greek territory...

And we're worried our silver shipments are going to pro-werewolf Greek Illuminati, who are hording it all for themselves.

Our people in Chengdu and Calcutta have been complaining of werewolf attacks near the west Chengdu moors and the vast taiga wastelands of the subarctic. We must root out the werewolf populations before it is too late.

:mischief:

And normally it's against my policy to offer advice to my adversaries before the game is over, but I like both of you gentlemen so much - I'm going to break that rule :)

Here's the tip: You can't win a "gentleman's space race" by building Battleships and tanks and bombers! I suggest the Apollo Program as good starting point. :D

I know! I know! I'm TOO generous :mischief:

We have moved our search east. Still no confirmed werewolves. Yeah, I'll stop building tanks and bombers when you do, GW :mischief:
