You can find the link here: http://users.tpg.com.au/jpwbeest/jp_links.htm

You are the Daimyo. As you fall, so does your house.

The houses:

House Shimazu of Satsuma, Lord Shimazu Takahisa - McMonkey
House Hojo of Izu, Lord Hojo Ujitsuna -
House Mori of Aki, Lord Mori Motonari -
House Oda of Owari, Lord Oda Nobuhide -
House Imagawa of Mikawa, Lord Imagawa Yoshimoto: -
House Takeda of Kai, Lord Takeda Nobutora -
House Uesugi of Tanba, Lord Uesugi Tomooki -

(I just remembered that the current scenario has a big flaw, in that barbarian cities have only unexplored surroundings, causing them to quickly shrink and disappear. I'll look into fixing that and uploading another version.)

I must confess, my real favourite era of Japanese military history is the Meiji/Taisho/Showa Eras (hence my EotRS, which I really should finish one of these days, especially with some of the new ideas I'd tucked away for it's revival, and, of course, to honour AGRICOLA's tireless playtesting of it in the day), but the Sengoku Jedai Era is of much less interest to me, as eras of Japanese military history, I'm afraid to say. My favourite Medieval East Asian military and historical epochs are strongly Chinese and Mongol.

I feel the community is small enough where I can say this without being a total downer...

But I''m not really interested in this scenario. My interests are more World Wars or Napoleonic wars. I'd be totally down for a Bonaparte PBEM (dibs on Russia)

I've taken a quick look and this seems like a good PBEM scenario. Not so much going on that turns will take forever to play. If we take into account time zones when assigning tribes, we could probably get through a full turn every two or three days.

I'm gonna make one final attempt to persuade people here.

This scenario has the potential for some very, very interesting games - players will see their fortunes rise and fall fast, and the truth is everyone starts out on more or less equal footings.

There's not going to be much sunken cost here.

I'd love to get involved, but I would have to find a way to either condense time, or remove sleep from my needs. :)

Dayum i'm very much down for another PBEM but just no interest in this... Can I suggest Bonaparte instead?

We have John Ellis' classic or my slightly enlarged version Bonaparte III, both MGE:

To be honest, I'd forgotten I'd even made this scenario. It's basically John Ellis' original with some alterations & on a bigger map. I think we had a successful game of it on Civ Webring years ago. I didn't mess around with the stats or events too much.

Another option is to convert one of these (or both) to Test of Time. In fact, I have Bonaparte IV on the drawing board. It was intended as a single player game but stalled. It's basically the map above. Using John Ellis's original and Bonaparte 3 as a guide I'm sure I could quickly get it ready for a multiplayer game. It's the events & managing the AI that's difficult for single player. For multiplayer there is no such concerns.

The advantage of Test of Time is that we can use Fairline's latest graphics which are simply gorgeous. We can also take advantage of some of the ToTPP features to make quick & easy, but very useful improvements.

If there is an interest then I'm willing to put in the effort to get this together.

If we are doing Boneparte, I might be interested...! Maybe as Russia.

I'm having a think about some ideas to spice this up a bit. Many PBEM games descend into fairly dull trade fests. Bonaparte should be about war & conquest. How about we cut trade entirely, make France really powerful & just have at it?

Basically, it will be France versus the world. Britain, Russia, Prussia & Austria vs France, with Sweden & Spain on the sidelines deciding which side to back. Of course, nations can sign ceasefires if it suits them, but the default should be war.

We could create some simple events that create a steady flow of units for all nations. City production would be a bonus. Building improvements & wonders is a peripheral activity.

I have also thought about ways of re-establishing nations that are defeated, then liberated. For example, should Austria be overrun by the French & then pushed out by a Prussian or Russian counter-offensive, then the capture of Vienna could create an Austrian unit next to the capital. If Russia/Prussia are at willing they can then let the Austrian player liberate their capital, triggering an event that will build a new Austrian army. We would need to have a spare city for each of the Civs somewhere out in the Atlantic so their Civ is not wiped out. We could do something similar for France for Napoleon's return from Elba (if he ends up there). Just an idea.

I’d like to participate.

Fully agree with cutting trade units out entirely. Spending half a year in real time just waiting for people to finish moving trade units around is not much fun, at least not in a scenario not designed for classical empire building.
