<img src="http://www.civfanatics.com/civ3images/pczoneciv3.jpg" border=1 align=right>British magazine PC Zone has recently posted a detailed preview of Civilization III on their website (on May 4th).

The preview doesn't contain much new Civ3 info, but it does include several interesting new screenshots: a readable <a href="http://www.pczone.co.uk/guest/newreviews/fullpic.php3?id=33692">city management screen</a>, a <a href="http://www.pczone.co.uk/guest/newreviews/fullpic.php3?id=33691">domestic advisor screen</a>, and a <a href="http://www.pczone.co.uk/guest/newreviews/fullpic.php3?id=33695">main map screen</a> that shows nearly 40 units.
Regarding Civ3's release date, it says "<font color=brown>Civ III is pencilled in for release early next year, and although the team is veering towards an 'it'll be done when it's done' stand-off, they already have a fully playable prototype.</font>" There is no confirmation from <a href="http://www.firaxis.com" target=link>Firaxis</a> about the release date, yet.

Cheers TF, I see that you have been burning the midnight oil, posting stuff for us rabble to talk about. It cannot be underestimated how good a job you do here.

Like you say there isn't a massive amount here but it has managed to satisfy my civIII thirst for a little while anyway !vampire!. The city screen looks excellent to me, loads of info, well presented looking nice and slick. I still have minor concerns as to the graphics in the main screen, every time I see that irrigation it looks more ugly.

It doesn't look like civIII will make it before Christmas at least not in the UK anyway. I don't know how I am going to wait. !aaaaargh!

Great to see the shot of most of the units - looks really good. Interesting to see so many types of tank. And in the screenshot of Baltimore city, there seems to be a biplane. Looks like there will be more differentiation of flying units as well. Didn't see a submarine though (that's the point, they all cry). I can see a cannon and artillery, but no howitzer - this could caue problems in the end game!

The city screen looks good - pretty much the same but clearer I thought. Interesting to see the luxuries pictured - does this mean you will have to get different types of luxury for different effects? Or are they just being flash? In fact, on another look, there seem to be pictures of eerything the city produces - wonder what they will be used for.

Don't like the pictures of your citizens - they all look like fairly dodgy blokes. While the cartoons in previous Civs aren't perfect, I don't want to think of all my citizens looking like computer programmers. Some diversity would be appreciated.

Not happy about the 'early next year' release date - but maybe that will give me time to get to Diety level on CIV2 <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/biggrin.gif" border=0>

For some reason I can't connect to that link... Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) in /export/people/dennis/pczone/htdocs/newreviews/printrev.php3 on line 79

Maybe because I am behind a firewall?

One thing I don't understand is that the same city improvements are shown on 2 columns. Any idea?

The units on the main screen shot look good. The terrian colors do not thrill me. It will be interesting to see some panzers take on some t-34's or abrahms. The advisor on the advisor screen looks like a geek.

Allways nice to see some good civ3 news!

Btw did you notice the "Take Snapshoot" option on The city screen? And the option "play map" is that just a get-out-off-the-city-screen thing or something else?

there is a samuraj in the middle of the "units pic"!

that sharpened pic was easier to look at. thank you tf.

You know, whenever I follow a link to any other CIV site, I am always somewhat disappointed. Civfanatics is by far the best.

Sorry if I offended you, Magnus, by giving you a link to more information on the thread topic.

It's good to know the Official Civ3 Site will be updated before E3 (May 16-19)!

worth waiting for!

Thanks for the screenshots TF. I wouldn't get to concerned about the quality of particular graphics - there is bound to be the good, the bad and the ugly (hmm, good title for a movie).

I'm looking forward to various aspects of the game play, particularly diplomacy - all those things you can bargain with - I wonder whether the Babylonians will agree to trade for those old golf clubs in the garage. Perhaps the Egyptians will give me that tech for..............here kitty, such a lovely cat Ms Cleopatra.
