After Refar released his Roaming Horses / Unicorns Units (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=280786), i thought it would be a good base for an "animation test" with nifscope (the changes were made completly in nifscope), so i decided to give his horses wings, after some difficulties and limitations by using this method here is the result of the test. It´s not the best, but i like it (biased opinion - i made it ;) ). It´s perhaps a good placeholder until somebody with max makes a complete new animation.

only in the idle and run animation the horses fly in the other animation not (so still a ground unit), some files (eg RunDie) i didn´t changed so there could be animation problems. If a complete flying unit (like the gunship) with this method is possible, i don´t know, run in problems when trying to change the strike and fortify_idle animation.

Credits for the horses goes to Refar, uses a again changed Charlemagne HeavyCavalry (based on Refars changed version), it was good to reduce the unit speed (<fMaxSpeed>1.25</fMaxSpeed> in Civ4UnitInfos and <bActAsRanged>0</bActAsRanged> in the Civ4ArtDefines).

I don't think the Germans used Pegasi in WWII?!?!? :dunno:

I like the Nightmare version. :D It looks like a true spawn of hell with the fire effects.

I can imagine some FfH-members will fall over for this.

I've heard they don't like Unicorns (or Pegasus in this case) in FfH ;) Something about them being too girly. They might use the dark version though..?

Hogwash... I've heard that both the Rainbow Bright and Care Bare civilizations love the Unicorn and Pegasi units!

P.S.
I too like the Nightmare version... though you might consider making one just like it without the wings (or at least make them Bat wings).

thanks :) more or less it was an animation test for me, the flying nightmare was made with FFH in my mind (and i liked the idea of a bad pegasus), if there is really the need for an unwinged nightmare, it should be an 5 minutes job

............

not sure what you wanted to say, but you used 12 x "." so it could be "preeminently", or?

Well a "true" Nightmare doesn't have any wings... it's just a bad-arse evil horse. However, there is the other Golden-Rule in fantasy... if it's a "good" creature, you give it eagle wings... if it's an "evil" creature, you give it bat wings!

Not that I really care that much... I have no use for any of these units... but many, many, MANY moons ago (70s and 80s folks), I used to be heavy into the fantasy stuff, and that was kind-of a Golden Rule back then. :dunno:

Good job Coyote. :goodjob:

Hey, the wolf in the bottom-right corner, is he the Big, Bad Wolf or something? Or Wolfshanze fighting his "Nightmares"! (exodus to the toilet in response to bad jokes) :vomit:. Sorry, I couldn't resist. :suicide:

no offense intended to Wolfshanze

Well obviously the Wolf will win...
