Petition to add Poland

The Netherlands have more of a case than Poland for inclusion simply because of their impact upon the worlds development. Poland has historically occupied large swathes of territory and been a large and important dynasty, but its real impact on the course of history is small.

If we're going to include Poland as a Civ in the main game or expansion, by the logic of the arguments given, Germany should be removed and replaced by The Holy Roman Empire. The European civs of importance to GLOBAL history are:

England
France
Spain
The Netherlands
Russia
Rome
Greece
Germany

When you look at a list like that, it's hard for Poland to compete, to be honest. If anyone cares to argue against the Netherlands, just understand that The Netherlands is the birthplace of modern markets, capitalism and the "protestant work ethic" which is the very foundation of modern societal structure.

If Poland is 'one of mosted country' (if I interpreted that right) then why do I know nothing about it? I've seen no other historical references in my classes to Poland other than it was conquered in WWII by Germany and had some of the greatest atrocities against Jews committed there.

Well.. I'm sorry for this answer but you really called for it: because you are ignorant on the matter.
If you were polish you'd have had classes on its history and you would know more about it than the one of England or other countries. How much obvious must this be ? Because it looks incredibly obvious to me.

And as for the reasons why Poles should be included. Well... there are many valid reasons. There are also many other for other civs, so why sign this petition ? Simple, because these guys actually started a petition, and I haven't heard of many others around.

very opinable. You have to consider man's history. USA (why "America") has grown as a world power when the world had been almost completely discovered. But if you look into european history, when Poland has been a great power, it was a "world" power, not a baltic power.

Sorry but unlike you I'm not interested in adding irrelevant civs simply because I live in that country.

But I gotta admit before I see Khmer/Polynesians I rather take Poland any day.

Austria - Hungary was a mighty power, but it's a federation of countries... (it included also southern parts of Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, even Serbia). So it would be hard to consider it as a civilization... Thinking this way Firaxis should include Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and many other federations, like United Kingdom etc.

It would be great if all of those mentioned countries would be included. It's not so hard - fans created almost-ready mods for most of those civs.

Austria, Hungary, Poland, Lithuania... I hope that some day it will come true

The only game with real civilizations was Rise of Nations.

And even they succumbed in the addon and created an addon with America which imo should be part of a british/english civilization.
