Hola!

So I hear there is only 2 slots left, and The Spanish Empire most likely won't make it in the cut when it deserves to be number 1-8. So I am making a petition to Sid Meier, Firaxis, and 2K Games.

The Spanish Empire is one of them most historical and important nation there ever is and was. It was the biggest nation in power, military, economy, and naval force in the word for a long time. They conquered 1/2 to 3/4th of America, plus islands in the Caribbean, Parts of Africa, Phillipean islands, and more around the world.

The Spanish Empire needs to be added to the game. It wouldn't be Civilizations with out it.

Please guys, sign this petition and let's get them to add The Spanish Empire to the game.

Again? No, there are no slots left at all. Even if somehow there magically was a petition wouldnt do anything, seeing as the game is to come out this autumn

If enough people support it I am sure they will add it. Even if they don't add it in the main game, they will probably add it to an expansion.

You're the guy who advertised this on the official forums -.-

the343danny is right, when Firaxis is this far into development an online petition is not going to bring any changes to the game. For example let's say that the final 2 civilizations are the Persians and Vikings. Do you really think they would scrap one or the other and all the work they've done on it just to make room for Spain? I'm afraid not.

And even if they aren't in Civilization 5 I wouldn't worry because they would no doubt be added later to an expansion. Spain IS an important historical civilization and they don't need a petition to persuade them of such.

Bets on how long till this thread is closed due to against the rules? :D

The powers that be have modified the rules. They can stay open as long as there is "no unprofessional conduct". Sigh....... As to the petition, my vote is no. Would rather have Vikings and Persia. They are more fun to play.

Lets place some unprofessional conduct here to make the thread closed!

What a waste of good internet space, for a worthless petition.

Just think about it for a sec. Suppose you got, say, 5000 signatures (I highly doubt it) and so Firaxis decided to put Spain in because of the petition. Then you open up a can of worms with thousands of petitions popping up and the process of deciding what civs go in the game becomes a tedious popularity contest.

I think I'm going to read these forums all afternoon instead of doing any work. Does that count?

If that was the case, I think I'd notice a whole lot more threads closed :P

On-topic: I vote for the Vikings! It's irrelevant to me how much land the spanish had. I want an early game naval power and I also want to be right in believing the announcement trailer shows the Vikings as one of the civs (especially since all the 7 other civs from that trailer is confirmed - egypt, ottoman, japan, india, america, greece and germany).

Top 8? Hahaha.

Top 10 (no particular order): China, USA, England, France, Germany, Russia, Rome, Greece, Egypt, Japan

Which three of those civilizations is Spain more important than and why? Answers on a postcard.

Honestly, I can't wait to not play as Spain. :)

The reason they chose not to include Spain is simple...they're removed religion, therefore Izzy can no longer be the leader because she doesn't know how diplomacy works without "you've fallen under the sway of a heathen religion". :D

if they do put spain they have to change the leader for once, isabela is just getting so old.

they worked in civ games where their was no religion before.

I support it. Although i think it is a bit too late. The game is set for release this autumm, so the chances are minimal. But it may be a possibility in future expansions. But i did my part and signed the petition.

I see no reason to sign this. It's too late, almost certainly, for Firaxis to add another civilization to the main game, and if past releases are any indication (eg, Civ III), Isabella (or another leader) and the kingdom of spain will be joining us at the first (expansion) opportunity, with or without our petitioning help.

It is a futile gesture.

Wow. There are actually people who don't understand the difference between "civilizations that have been created, but haven't yet been revealed to us in their limited PR" and "open slots that could be filled based on an online petition".

Easy it has more historical value over a longer period of time than the USA.

Seriously... Spain has had more historical value over a longer period of time than the USA?

The USA has ~100 good years of significant worldwide impact, and an additional 100 years of continentwide impact (albeit a backwater continent)... Spain really isn't much more than that.

They went from backwater roman empire to backwater (but culturally intellectually intersting) point of contact between europe and arabs, and then they became a world power for ~100 years, and then began their decline back to a backwater part of Europe.

So maybe 100 years of continent wide impact, and 100 years of world wide impact for both.

Spain has been around Longer than the USA but for most of that it time it doesn't warrant inclusion in civ.
