PH15: Every One is Special

So, as I said, I played up until the settler was done ~ only about 12 turns or so. It was mostly worker builds and such. I doubled up our workers in the east as I just *hate* to see them working alone. We should probably build about 4 or 5 more in the near future, too.

Really, that was about the most interesting thing that happened. Here’s the slideshow presentation:

Civ4ScreenShot0000.jpg

I saw this guy, and got a little worried at first ~ we’re severely low on defense.
Civ4ScreenShot0001.jpg

So, I took OB’s:

Civ4ScreenShot0003.jpg

With the hope of making us Buddhist.

Another event:
Civ4ScreenShot0004.jpg

And, oh yeah!! The monkey wrench in our plans! I forgot!!
Civ4ScreenShot0005.jpg

And that’s that. Two notes on city MM:
Civ4ScreenShot0006.jpg

I’m trying to have Athens grow to 6 ASAP. I’m also cottaging those FPs now, too as our finances were starting to sour until the gold come online down south.

And, Corinth will grow next turn:
Civ4ScreenShot0007.jpg

MM it to work on that plains hill and we should get to pyramids down to about 20some turns.

In the end, I would make the “artist city,” the war city. I think a rush of Pacal with cats and archers is way to go. I still don’t think he has metal, but . . . Maths > Const > Currency? or vice-versa?? though i think once the FPs come online at athens, our finances will improve some.

With the settlement of the military city, we will be at five cities. If we take over Pacal’s land, I think we’d be okay. If worse comes to worst, we could always stay at 7 cities until we find an unsettled island with metal?? Then again, the worst case scenario would be the one where we end up having to take that spot 3S of Athens.

I hope you mean war elephant + catapult rush :) And I think we really need Aesthestics after Construction for the Pantheon. It would be nice to scout that bana site and see if there's any other resources.

In any case, I could use a swap as I can't play my set before monday.

monday seems okay as it is, unless pigs can take it and run with it in 24 hrs

yes ~ forgot about the ele's!

I only changed Sparta to build barracks before archer and hit enter.

Turn 3

Since iron spot was taken by Bismarck, we settle our military city.

PH15-006.jpg

Turn 5

Thebes built a granary last turn and now we whip a worker for two pop.

Turn 6

Thebes continues with a library.

Turn 8

Mathematics in and we start Construction.

Turn 12

Party time!

PH15-007.jpg

Turn 13

Party is over as I realize that our military city is building a granary :smoke:. Change build to barracks.

Turn 16

Played one extra turn accidentally and these guys appear from nowhere . Although wounded, we probably need to whip an archer in Corinth and more help is on the way... Say your prayers, guys.

PH15-008.jpg

Thebes should hire two scientist as soon as it grows. I didn't revolt to Representation yet but do it as soon as we have specialists!

And some of these guys are already running away.

PH15-009.jpg

At least nice we got the Pyramids, hope we can hang on them! :) I'll pray for Corinth...

Maybe we can already revolt to representation just for increasing the happy cap.

I'll be away from Thursday to Monday by the way, but since we have this 48/168 got it/play it schedule, I guess I'll be back on time for my set. :D

Got it. Looks pretty straightforwards. Whip walls in engineer city, grow science city a bit then run specialists, revolt to representation, hope no-one declares on us, build a settler for horseclam city.

nice job on the 'rids ~ i would say those barbs came from the east, from the newly-conquered Frankfurt ~ it might be nice if we could somehow capitalize on that.

what? no metal?? oh yeah . . . right.

i say we take a look at Pacal first.

and, let's all make sure we get to nocho before monday okay? :)

Played 11 turns largely uneventfully until construction. Want some team feedback on tech trading:

ph15b10000.jpg

As you can see Pacal's got construction already. Qin will trade alphabet for construction which would open up the other three AI for backfilling techs.

Diplomatically there's a Jewish bloc of Qin, Mehmed and Bod. Bismark's Buddhist and Pacal's Hindu. Everyone's cautious with each other atm and no-one has 'worst enemies' though I'm sure that will change.

I would say, make the trade. It's not a monopoly tech anymore and AIs tend to research it quickly anyway.

With some luck next turn we can also trade Alphabet to the other AIs for some more backfilling.

Agreed, make the trade. And remember that we need HBR for elephants.

So glad to see that Corinth is still in our hands :p

And remember that we need HBR for elephants.
We should also go Aesthetics rather soon to build the Parthenon. But if artist city is to be founded in Pacal's land then HBR first is fine to me. :) But after that would go Aesth-Lit.

Edit: just to add, if we get a jew spread, I'd seriously consider converting to it to befriend the biggest block and more or less securing the eastern front, while building up defences and offences for Pacal and Herr Otto.

Dullsville:

Rename all cities to their specialties otherwise I'll forget.

T150. Swop Eng city to walls.

T151. Whip walls in eng city.
Qin captures Frankfurt from barbs!
Cottage city worker>granary.

T152. Open borders with the Bod.
Eng city walls>archer.
Barb swords head south east into celtic lands!
Revolt to representation.

T153. Anarchy rules ok.
Open borders wth Pacal.

T154 Priest archer>worker, archer starts walkabout.
Science city runs 2 scientists.
Research to 50% +4gpt.

T155. Priest City turns Buddhist.
Eng City archer>monument (want to keep ivory in our borders).
Mil City turns Hindu.

T156. zzz

T157. Science City turns Buddhist.

T158 zzz

T159. Mehmed adopts Judaism.

T160 zzzz (told you it was dull, didn't I).

T161. Construction>HbR (11T).
Cottage City granary>library.
Priest worker>cat.
Tech trading:
construction to Qin for alphabet.
maths to Mehmed for sailing+med.
There should be more trade opportunities next turn.
Sailing and open borders give us foreign trade routes for +5 commerce, research up to 60%, HbR down to 9 turns.
GS due in 4 to settle in Science City as per variant.

A save:

"New Mutal" is a great candinate for our merchant city. There's also a nice wheat / cow / iron spot up north.

Do we have time to invade Pacal before the Pantheon is gone? Otherwise we'll have to found our artists city soon, probably to south of Athens. There's also some crabs down there if we don't want to share capitals clams.

I'm thinking that we should found Artists City on the german five food spot. We really don't need artists or settled great artists at all, what would be very handy indeed would be to have the artists city as a Globe whipping/drafting city. We won't get it early but we won't need it early. IMO Parthenon is a red herring, however Glib in science city is as important as Pyramids (and its worth saving the forests around Science City specifically to chop into Glib). New Mutal would therefore become the merchant or spy city.

edit: If we really want Parthenon we could have New Mutal as our artist city/Globe machine (even though it only gets three food resources) and the iron/wheat city as spy or merchant city. We would need to build a couple of settlers ready to found cities as soon as Pacal's have been razed.

I'm not sure whether it won't be the better idea to ensure the Parthenon.. You're right pigs, we don't need artists at all, but maybe we want some more artists wonders than only the Parthenon. So we don't need that much food for the artist city but hammers. So even the spot 1S (yes south) of the horses south of cottage-city would be worth a city.. (one forest grass hill + hoses + 2 workshops).
So I'd vote for settling this spot as the artist city and resurching Aesth before HBR to start the parthenon as fast as possible.
