I would have thought Alphabet or Code of Laws would have been a better choice than Mathematics
'twas but a place holder ~

hmmm...ozzie...see who he hates and if its us, take appropriate measures.

i have one axe in production, but that's it

A quick whip around the empire shows us in a sticky situation. Luckily this is only Prince. I think we should get a mod to change the thread title to PH16: It is only Prince

I also love this

We're cottaging our gems, well done us.

We can't afford another city yet so leave the settler hanging about.

Meditation comes and go as does Priesthood (thanks Willem).

DeGaulle has Alphabet as well and we can do this deal, which might be all right as we are running out of things we can build (currently axes and workers).

Willem is still WHEOOH but only has 1 axe and sword visible but there is some firepower somewhere, more axes for us.

CoL will be in 16 turns I think, so can settle another city then.

Actually, we travelling all right.

good turns, oz ~ i think i just get into the habit of cottaging luxuries in the early game before calendar comes in, forgetting it only needs gems.

we should definitely think of setting up a good and true production city in the near term. We're gonna need lots of army so best start now with mere garrisons and deterrents.

Looking good. Suggest we build barracks in bursa before completing the axeman. And it looks like De Gaulle knows alphabet already, so we could trade meditation + priesthood for sailing with him. We can also trade our spare ivory or some health resource to Asoka for furs.

I'd also cancel OB's with the bottom two civs, De Gaulle and Hyana Capac. They are hated by Hammurabi and Cyrus, so it's only a matter of time before they start to demand cancelling deals.

Good turns. The only nitpick, if I must, is the unusually high number of workers assigned to Erdine, while the iron in the net city if mined can accelerate the worker build a lot.

Agree with Meiz, especially on the barracks. We have enough axes for now.

You must be pretty proud of this "habit", but I hate to do what I usually do to you again and again -- smashing your pride. It is actually a pretty bad idea to cottage resources if you are planning to remove the cottage and build the proper improvement once the relevant tech (say calendar) is done. It is a good idea to farm or to mine, but usually not a good idea to cottage. Take for example Bursa. I presume you are the one who cottaged the spice. It is actually a bad idea, since it takes away a pop that works on a proper grassland cottage. So instead of enjoying a village when calendar is done, you will have to destroy the village on the spice and assign a pop to start from scratch on a cottage grassland.

usually i would cottage all but one instance of a resouce (which to plantation/mine/etc). If i only have one, i wouldn't cottage it at all.

as to my pride ~ if i had any left after playing w/you all, then your consideration would mean something ;) :)

and i shall be oop for hte next few days, but I think you all can handle it. plus, i'll still be posting most likely.

On other matters, I will attend to army reserve training from sunday to next weeks friday. As much as I'd like to play civ between playing war, it might be a bit complicated... :)

Well, it didn't happened a lot in my set....

First, a deal with DG, as sugested by a person that has a far better HoF scoring than mine :D

The rest of the set was basically, chop, mine and road :p I finished the army units in queue, but decided to not put more weight in the army sheet ( anyway, that will not make Willem to stop his war plans anyway.... ). He is actually starting to pile units , but this is not unusual : part of it is surely settler escort and the rest is a typical " citiy suffers cultural pressure, must pile units to prevent revolt" reaction:

Anyway , the best part of the set was in the end:

So, not only we got a nice tech but also a holy city :p ( and in the best spot possible, given that the Indians are putting quite a cultural pressure in this city ). BTW, we had 2 or 3 religious spreads of Judaism in our land, and given it is the mainstream religion, I think it is advisable to convert.

Some other end of set intel:

First is the tech screen... besides Alpha, nothing worth giving CoL out, and neither of the stooges will trade Alpha for CoL :(

Second, the Indians are moving a settler to the wine area. I moved our setter there as well, and will let the team decide if we want to settle the city or let the Indians burn a settler for us :D
