OK, it's finally done. There's still something to do, but they're mostly minor stuff. Perhaps the most urgent one is the town sizes, but the towns weren't very large at the time were they? Some civilopedia entries should also be revised but they are all there (unlike in my WWII Scenario until recently). Some building-list graphics are also missing/wrong but that isn't too bad either.

I - Information

For [c3c] ONLY!

This Scenario is situated on the Caribbean and starts on New Year, 1656. There are many new things in this scenario, the most important is propably the huge amount of added ships. There are over 10 new animations & over 30 different ships. But I didn't forget the land departement either: there are many new units there too. This scenario tries to be somewhat historically accurate although quite a lot has been sacrified for the sake of fun. There are 2 different pirate civs in addition with 4 European civs & 1 Native one.

I've also added background musics. Although they aren't neccessary, they add a nice little extra to the scenario.

The Loading time is once again short, as is the round waiting time. With an 800mhz P3, 380 SDRAM it takes under one minute to load the scenario and avaen less with the turns.

IV - Downloads & Guides

So, have fun & please tell of any bugs you find! No matter how small it seems to be, everything is helpful.

Installing:
1) Download the Main Files and extract it to your ..\civ3\conquests\scenarios\ folder.
2) Download the Newest update and extract it to your ..\civ3\conquests\scenarios\ folder.
3) Download the Music and extract it to your ..\civ3\conquests\ folder. (Not neccessary)

If you can't open the .rar's, you need to get a better archive opener than winzip. www.rarlabs.com/download.htm

Main Files (v1.0) - 47mb
Any to v1.2 update - 1.7mb (17.04.2005)
Music - 38mb

Playing: Start Conquests, perss Civ-Content & choose Pirates! Yarr!.biq.
ps. If you're playing as a pirate, you can attack cities with Buccaneers/Pirate Captains AFTER you've declared war on the enemy. The AI doesn't have this handicap but it cheats anyway... *grumble*

ahoy, this bee lookin like a good mod arrr, sorry for the steryotypical accent arrr . ill be tyryin it out arrr. ill get back to soon arrr

arr, i think it bee needin win zip, ill get it arrr

Actually you need any program that knows .rar's. I use winrar, it works in the same way as older winzip's.

I noticed a critical bug, the game crashes when you look at the civilopedia entry of the pirate captain. I've fixed it + many other small things I noticed while playing it.

Arrrrrrrrrr!!! :)

I'll download this awesome scenario when I get my new computer, matey... Arrr!

Greenman1234: .rar files doesn't run in WinZip, you'll need WinRAR...
You can download it here: http://www.rarlabs.com

Edit: Ooops... Pääsky beat me to it...

OK, first update is here! This is a MUST to download as the first version has one critical bug that makes the game crash.
Get it from here: http://koti.mbnet.fi/peksoft/peksoft/files/pirates_any-1.1.rar

Fixed:

Swap pirate clours
Pirate flagship 10 more attack (A/D=60/50)
privateer A/D=40/40
civilopedia links
resources have 3-letter code
pirate & pirates switched
pirate captains can hurry
pirate ship creates pirate ship
flagship creates pirate ship
palace acts as battlefield medicine
new unit: treasure keeper (A/D/M/C = 1/5/1/5) europ only
all gov's pay to hurry
NOT FOUND: icons\units\piratesmall/large.pcx
captains have stealth attack against every land unit (some bugs with civ with this, I might delete it)
VP's:
Treasure: 500
Unit: 1
City: 100

The stealth attack was originally for all units but when I tested it by attacking a Galleon it didn't die & I enslaved a musketeer
A few moments later civ just crashed. It seems that that was one modification civ couldn't handle :(
Hopefully it won't crash now, but if it does I'll remove the stealth attack alltogether.

arrr, i be the true pirat Anarki, arrr i should be tellin thunderfall to put you in the brig for mutiny arrr!!!!

this is prittey good, you should give the pirates mabey another city each. they are at a disadvantage. i cant unzip the files to conquest/scenarios. i normally cot and paste from a regular zip. what doi do?

After installing winrar, open the pirates.rar you've downloaded. Mow, press the large colourful (:p) Extract button and browse to your conquests\scenarios folder. Then extract.
Then just do the same thing to the patch. That's it!

I just played the scenario as the Swashbucklers (didn't win yet though). It is Very easy with them. I noticed that Buccaneers & pirate captains can attack cities if you've declared war against the enemy first.
Now there aren't any ships left in the caribbean & I've conquered almost half of the map. There are large amounts of treasure carrying units walking around in mexico wich I raid every now & then. I guess I'll win it soon as many of the cities I have have plantations in them creating treasures.

So don't say that the pirates have a disadvantage, as they sure don't ;) I once doubled my fleet / land units by simply attacking many times in one turn.

As anyone with kids can tell you, according to the Backyardigans, "Aargh means yes and aargh means no..." and "What do you do with a scurvy pirate? Steal his ship and then hot wire it!"

sorry no comment on the mod yet, just looking for an excuse to say Aargh!!!!

Nothing to comment about? Does that mean that everything is perfect? (except for the civilopedia)

Damn, I forgot to add a Download Counter to this one, I now don't have a clue in how many times this has been downloaded... So please post to boost my ego :p
