I found something really interesting while cleaning up my system a few days ago. Under the saves\multi\auto directory, it creates a recovery save named for a player, apparently when the player joins or leaves. The game looked correct when I reloaded from this other autosave.
If anyone notices (has noticed) anything bizarre in this save, please let me know. We'll go on honor system for that, I trust nobody will use this to overturn a battle result. If it's seriously messed up there is a save from the previous night, but that would lose some data like anything that has been done since about 9pm last night.
BTW it was a power failure that caused this outage. My wife didn't mention it until I asked her why the computer was powered off.
Also, since I'm here, I should mention that I will be away from Aug 11th very early in the morning GMT-7 thru Aug 18th late at night. Those still playing can either take a weeks vacation, play on and hope it doesn't stay active but inaccessible while I'm gone, or find a volunteer to host for those days and I can send a save. I may get around to finding a secure way to log in remotely (must be careful given the IP is posted in a public place) but don't count on it.
www.logmein.com is a really nice remote access system. My only complaint is it can't handle 3d graphics, otherwise I'd be playing civ4 in a browser window at work.
meh.. there's these Mongol's that keep showing up. They keep stealing all of the women. The sort of look like those neanderthals off of the Geico commercials
