Never mind, i'm an idiot. Maybe i should have checked the settings in civ 4. Once i disabled the buildings in global view it did it without a problem.

My 3yo son had demonstrated his prowess at unplugging things (power strip for cable modem and router).

The connection seemed to reset automatically when I plugged it back in, and I didn't notice that the pitboss wasn't connected any more.

true true. I voted for Allen in Virginia and now he's ~ 6000 out of 2.4 million behind with 5 more precinct left to report. That's pretty freaking close. Also they can't request a recount until it's certified late this month. So we won't know for sure until December most likely.
