Pizza

My favourite is Kebab pizza. Kebab (gyros), garlic sauce, onions and you can have some other stuff on it as well. Masterful!

Pizza is my daughter's favorite food so we order it at least twice a month.
I like Happy Joe's taco pizza, Super Meat Sampler from Pizza Pit, the super-thick potato crust from Great Plains Sauce & Dough Co., Canadian bacon & pineapple, or bacon-lettuce-tomato w/mayo. Of course those were all available in Iowa and the idiot pizza places in Ohio haven't figured out any of them. The best we can get around here is ham & pineapple, chicken alfredo, or cheese. Still looking for a good calzone here too.

For frozen, the Stouffer's French Bread pizzas (white, or 5-cheese) aren't too bad. For really quick & greasy, there are always (can't remember the brand) Pizza Rolls.

Pizza is my favorite food. I obsess over it. I dream about it. And, of course, I eat it, but that goes without saying.

I've always considered myself something of a pizza conoisseur[sp?]. I'm also a bit of a traditionalist: I will eat only pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage, or any combination of the three (and sometimes cheese-only or extra cheese, if these options are unavailable, which, in any decent pizza-serving restaurant, should never happen).

I have my own picture of the "ideal" pizza, based on its proportions of greasiness, flavor, doughiness, and cheesiness. The less grease, the better overall. A lot of cheese is good, as long as it doesn't overwhelm the flavor of the sauce and the toppings. Doughiness, now, that's the tricky part. You don't want too much crust; otherwise it feels like you're only eating flavored bread. Too little, however, means that you lose one of the unique tastes that makes a good pizza so... good. Therefore, you usually want a reasonable balance between the crust content and the cheese/topping/sauce level.

Am I, by any chance, going overboard?

Wow, I forgot one of my favorites in an earlier post. Canadian bacon and Sauerkraut. Definitely going to have to order one of those today. Do NOT knock it until you've tried it! :D

I also noticed noone mentioned any of the dessert pizzas... why's that?

Sauerkraut?! Sorry, no way am I gonna try that on my dime.

I used to frequent a place that served by the slice, and the 2 toppings were the best deal. But now they changed their pricing and some of the toppings (different supplier or something) and I don't go there much.

onions and ham/cappicola/canadian bacon
of course the classic: pepperoni and 'shroom
the typical "supreme" or "deluxe" with pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, onion, green pepper if they don't skimp (but I haven't found a pizza place that meets that requirement)

Chicago style is the best!

I can't agree more with you there. I have to order my Lou Malnati's frozen from Chicago here since there are NO good Chicago-style pizzarias within a 100 mile radius of my place. :(

The best pizza I ever had was in (where else?) Naples, Italy. (Okay, technically, it was in Pozzuolli, a Naples suburb. ;) )

The 'Cipster' (pronounced "chipster"), the signature pizza of the Cipster restaraunt. It was hand-tossed, with one corner folded over (how can you have a corner on a round pizza???) with ricotta cheese inside. Then it was spread with a tomato sauce, and topped with mushrooms, paper-thin prosciutto (ham), artichoke leaves, and fresh mozzarella cheese.

Heaven! :D

My own home-made "Cheesebomb Combat" is my favourite. This baby has thick crust, hot tomato sauce, feferonis, mushrooms, paprika, red onion, sliced tomatoes, and tons of mozzarella :bounce:

I hear ya. I know of several restaurants within a mile or two of my home. Suckers!

@Combat Ingrid: That looks yummy!

My fave is sausage, mushroom, green chile, and garlic, with plenty of hot red
pepper flakes. Zachary's in Tucson makes a wonderful homemade thick crust
pizza.

Good ol' Salami with extra cheese

btw: Combat Ingrid you have quite hairy arms for a girl ;)

@ Combat Ingrid: I assume the bright yellow and green bits in your pizza are peppers in the sauce. Is that correct?

I confess I have to be tame, even boring, with my pizzas since I'm allergic to onions and peppers. I can eat little bits if they are dehydrated, but try to avoid them. I really hate cross-contamination when eating out!
